That time EDDY PINEIRO practiced new kickoff strategy during real college games

Anyone remember this in podcast he said he tried a different strategy for kickoffs basically to increase his NFL stock. Mike Hubert was so annoyed because it was obvious he could easily kick it out of the end zone but he was determined to kick it at like the one to five yard line area. He cost us so many drives because the offense could start at like 30 or farther he never could figure it iut. Why in the world was this allowed during a real game? Anyone remember this I'll never forget the stupidity of the old coaches even allowing this to occur .....

Yes, and we were pissed as hell. Totally selfish act.
I thought I was the only one to remember. I remember thinking every time ok he's done with that and he'd keep doing it! Mullen would of allowed it to happen maybe once for sure not twice.

There is absolutely no fking way he did that on his own. Maybe once, but not multiple times. He was told to do it, (or asked and was given permission) and is just covering for whoever said “ok”.

One word: Butters/Nord

Ok that’s technically two, but both were rolled together into a big special teams college football cluster frig, the likes of which should have never been in the Western Hemisphere, much less at UF.

What was the strategy? He could kick it out of the end zone so why would they bother doing such a strange thing ?

5 yards on a few kickoffs isn't why Butters sucked.
He sucked, blew, ate, swallowed, tossed and every other disgusting verb you can think of to describe his character, sloth, ineptitude, and hubris. I would not be surprised if it were to be found out that he was involved in a ponzi scheme. That’s the vibe he gives off. I will never get over the embarrassment he brought to UF nor the legend that brought him inside.

I agree. To me, there is NOTHING more embarrassing than a coach that quits, whether vs Clowntown or Trailerbamma 2015 or 2016, or vs Uga in 2019.

To be fair he was fired before the uga game. Also, how did the whole team find out? I think it was even on ESPN during the game how embarrassing...

In Eddie's defense, it's not like that team ever practiced during the week. So when else was he going to get the chance to try something different?

Kick it high and land it inside the 5, gives your KO team more time to get down the field. Hopefully this results in a tackle inside the 20.

That is the strategy. I would never employ it. I hate special teams as a coach. Too many bad things seem to happen. You can't have a Kick 6 against you if you kick it out of the end zone.
