10 pages in I was trying to remember what this thread was about. Oh yeah
I like to have one of these every year. I received this email recently and I wanted some feedback. Here it is in part:

"You've got a good board there with a lot of good posters, but as I've said before, a LOT of people are turned off by the wild west bull**** that goes on all the time there. And maybe that's what you want. But I guarantee you'd get more traffic and participation, maybe even from some older REALLY good posters, if you were able to get a grip on some of the craziness. I'm not saying you have to censor everyone and make it a pumper paradise, but it also doesn't have to be a free for all. That's just my advice, you can do what you want with it."

Discuss.

The correct answer is "no you don't have to get a grip on some of the craziness".
What did I win?

Ox didn't ask for or want nor did he have any plans of considering anybody's suggestions.

That’s not true. I consider suggestions all the time.

Just not yours.

Primarily to irritate you.

I went back and looked at the post history, and I see the reasoning behind that one. Fair decision. He was going after you personally and slandering your character.

I know message boards are run with different philosophies, but I believe in free speech. Unfortunately, people who hold the keys to these big online platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc are playing the role to technocratic totalitarians. I’m glad Gatorchatter doesn’t take that philosophy. I lurk much more than I post, but I like Gatorchatter. It’s a place where you don’t have to worry about moderators approving of your speech. That is not the case with every message board.

My only complaint about this place is that innocuous, gator-lovin' posts are too often moved to the political forum for no reason at all by the left-leaning snowflake mods who run this board. Sad.

No argument from me.

But if we’re honest, most of your threads/posts probably deserve to be placed in their own unique forum(just call it Pasty, Seriously You’re Still Going In?) that’s off limits to children, requires login, and includes a signed waiver that any psychological, mental or emotional therapy that results from such visits will not be covered by insurance.

As most have already said, this place needs no changes.

In fact, consider it a form of higher education in that there are Universities teaching our progeny that socialism and groupthink is the norm while this place teaches you snowflakes melt in the heat and you must stand on your principles, well enunciated and proven, or be ridiculed and shown the errors of your ways.

In short, this board produces MEN while the world attempts to create sheeple.

It is an equalizer. Without peer. Like a cow, out standing in its field.

It needs nothing. Except time to grow and prosper. Unabashedly creating men of substance and character that never wilt under pressure.

Ox, you should not be asking for opinions, you should be taking a bow.

For years, I've performed experiments with dead animals I find on the road. You give them a poke, take a little swipe at them to see how they react. Sometimes if they're not too torn up I like to pump them up with my bicycle pump. That makes them look alive again. I like to pretend they are my pet and teach them tricks. I also like matches, firecrackers and bottle rockets.

I have to admit stuff like this always concerned me all through our childhood.
