A major problem with the Samsung French Door model is water/ice under the vegetable bins. Its seems LG has the same problem. My sister bought an LG a few years after I bought my Samsung and it has the same problem, same design and probably the same plant in South Korea . :(

What about GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire? They all have bottom mounts?

I've always heard they were (same with LG) were nice, lots of features, but good luck if anything went wrong, i.e. their customer service sucked. Like died in a couple weeks and they got nothing. This is all hearsay as I do not know anybody that has one. Thanks for you insight.

I have an old Frigidaire Side by Side...bought with house..looks to be 18 years old too...but it's on it's last leg. One of the drawers broke and one of the handles is coming loose...have to tighten the screw every month or two. I did have to replace the ice maker like 3 months after buying the house 15-16 years ago. I hate throwing things away though.

Loctite or Super Glue would fix that lose screw.

NO! Don't do that. If it's been loose with no I'll effects then he doesn't need it. It would be more useful if he mailed it to Alumni Guy to fix that damned 65" TV that has no legs.
:lmao: I took that to mean a handle on an external door but......

I have that Kenmore Elite. Love it but my ice maker is in the door. When the water turns on to refill the ice tray, it sprays a little too hard causing some very slight spill over. After a while, the spill over drips into the ice tray causing the collection of ice cubes to freeze together. If you use the ice function regularly, you cycle through the ice without a freeze over. If you don't use it for a couple days, it will freeze together.

I bought mine in 2011. I had no idea about design flaws. French Doors were just starting to come out.
