No, they're not the same. But adding an emoji gives the opportunity for the reader to give a reaction without posting.
I like it as a reader, but if I'm looking to get more posts, then I might be hesitant about adding it.
Exactly. I think this board as a whole has age induced comprehension disorder but seeing how it is the equivalent of an internet nursing home for 80% of the members I'm not shocked...
This is how the funny thing is supposed to work.
 Kind of funny, maybe clever or sneaky even

:lol2: A little more funny and generally a mutual agreement. May also be used to laugh at yourself.
:lmao: This one was a little over used back in the day but was used when someone really cracked a good one.

:rotfl: This one has multiple uses. Funny as hell would be ok but I like this one when I want to mock someone for their stupidity

By using these instead of another of WAY too many buttons the site gets another post and it's just about as easy as using the buttons.

Here's my take: this place has a learning curve. There was one point in particular when I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep coming back. But if you spend enough time here some of the absurdities start to grow on you - kinda like a fungus.

The way we suffer victories here has grown on me. I normally have to take a few days off after a loss because there's a lot of people that have way more emotional investment in it than I do, clearly. It's not that I don't understand it, as I get that way with the teams I coach. It's just hard for me to get more than bummed out over results I don't have any direct stake in. Even that Mexican soap opera level of passion I've come to appreciate somewhat.

I'm not sure why anyone that likes messages boards wouldn't come here. There's a block feature for those that just can't stand certain posters. I'm sure I'm on more than a few people's list. Omar is the only one to ever make mine, and not because he is a troll. It's because he lacks trolling skills, and that I just can't abide.

Blocking is for pussies
I generally agree. My point is that I don't get the argument that some poster can ruin someone's experience here when Ox has put God-like smiting power at everyone's fingertips. If they really are bothered by the way someone posts they don't even have to see it - and if they don't tell anyone, no one will even know (besides Ox, I suppose) that they are blocking Donkey.

I'm one of those that love to lurk and read the insights and enjoy seeing a lot of the interactions. Only occasionally post as I don't usually have much to add.

The only thing about this board I would like to see different is how the personal attacks can take a thread way out out into left field. I'm ok with that when one topic leads to another and we end up out there, but when it is just name calling that totally derails it from any talk about what is going on with sports that it gets annoying. Usually I just know to skip to the end or go to another thread, but a new person wouldn't know that.

I love the site as is. I do get tired of the overly negative monotony from some posters but I just take a few days off and get over it. I wouldn't want things changed dramatically. I do like the idea of "group ban" where several posters could combine to have someone temporarily banned.

I know what you mean, but honestly I think we have very few true "dumpers" on this board. Mostly, we have a lot of realists, who occasionally get frustrated with aspects of the programs. This is the perfect place to vent about it.

Agreed. Prior to these message boards I considered myself to be somewhat negative (I would counter realist). Either I've changed or I overestimated my negativity. :dunno:

You spelled Bored wrong in the title of this thread. Bored is how I feel usually after reading two pages of what was interesting but then it devolves into you're just a pumper and delusional vs. the whole program is in the crapper..........
