Hemorrhagic stroke fells an icon.

With what’s going on today maybe Charlie belongs In the political forum.

Skynard’s pickin down in Jacksonville

question...
I noticed two drummers in the band in this video (never noticed that before).
Why two drummers?

I can see why Skynard had three lead guitarists - (of course you do when you had Rossington, Collins and Gaines).
but two drummers?
Don't get it...

Great song nonetheless... love that fiddle.

There's been a bunch of "2 Drummer" bands. Most prominent IMO is Allman Bros Band. I think they sort of brought it to the forefront and got a lot of exposure. Of course both drummers in ABB were considered excellent by far. Well respected.

Thanks for posting this one. I haven't heard this in YEARS! Yet I remember it like yesterday as soon as it started playing. Easy to forget just how many songs CD put out during that run in the 70's.

I bet I saw him play at 5-6 concerts all back in the 70's. Seemed to always be with the Allman Bros as the lead in band. Also saw him at the opening of the Super Dome in 75....CDB, ABB, Marshall Tucker, and Wet Willie. Awesome line-up at the time since that style of music was riding a mega wave. Notice in the attached link(not my ticket--I used mine!) that the price for the show was....$12.00! For all 4 bands in the first music act ever in the brand new Super Dome....lol.

Good times man....good times.
