That's true. What is surprising is Dean's vs. Torrence (a 3rd year, former starter vs. a true freshman).
I just want the best guys at the position to play.

I don't care about seniority with the players.....put up or shut up

I was pleasantly surprised that Dean played well. I thought Chatfield looked pretty good too.
Burney was less than impressive. I would like to see Diabate get more of his snaps.

Diabate looked like he's gained some much weight!

Looking forward to Shawn Davis being back in the lineup. I'd imagine he will be playing with a big chip on his shoulder after all that covid preseason pain and then only getting to play 9 snaps before the targeting call.

Kadarius Toney got in on about 70% of the plays. Playmakers make plays when they get to play.

One of the pleasant surprises for me(that kind of got overlooked because of Pitts), was Toney's play. He seemed much more mature in his decision making and looks more polished as a WR. It's likely a good sign that he listened to his critiquing last year before the draft decision and has worked on that in the offseason. In general, he seemed relaxed and was having fun which bodes well for him and us.

from the presser yesterday it looks like Elam was disgusted with the defensive backfield performance as well. Said that will not happen again.

Interesting that we felt the need to play the starting OL on 100% of the plays, but pulled our starting QB for 11% of the plays in a contested game while he was in the middle of a record setting performance.

The lure of the switch-up dual threat QB. I love much of what I've seen from Emory, and I think we're in good hands when it's his turn. But if he were in the middle of a record game, and it was tied, I'd be just as upset about seeing him trot off to be replaced by Trask for a play or two. Probably was the turning point in the Lsu game last year.

Outside of Tebow spelling Leak in 2006, I don't think I've ever seen it work. Sean Payton likely cost his team with it on Sunday as well. But they seemingly can't resist.
