What is the general consensus on the Sig P365 SAS with the embedded FTBullseye sights and ported barrel?
(note: SAS stands for Sig Anti Snag)

It looks extremely promising.
I really like the idea of the ported barrel, and I am a fan of anti-snag stuff, not a fan of those kind of sights, at all. I'd get the ported one, with the laser, and largely ignore the sights. I got the LCP with the laser, i don't worry about the sight picture. Honestly, with these types of weapons, I prefer the lasers to anything... with the laser/and even more traditional iron type sights, I'm not worried about an actual "perfect" (or even "good") sight picture. It's all muscle memory and practice... people spend too much time (and I'm talking fractions of a second) trying to make a final, perfect aim, before firing, and that fraction of a second is critical. Whether laser or "iron", I'm a bring up the muzzle/laser and i'm pressing off the first round even just before i "cover" my aiming point kind of guy. Cover, press, cover, press... i'm never waiting for my muzzle to settle or for a "perfect/even good" sight picture for a close fight (or even out to 75m with an M4). I'm sure it looks like my muzzle is never still when i fire. The sights on this SAS will fuk with ya for a fraction of a second, and i won't be a guy that buys something "you just have to get used to it" vs. EVERY other firearm you have or may pick up.

Again, everything I've heard about the 365 is good, and i think they should add the ported option to all of them. I don't think you could go wrong with this one, but with the laser.

PS I'm also not a fan of any weapon that i need even a penny to break down, but that's just dumb "old guy" on my part. I need a paper clip for my Kimbers, and while I hate that aspect of them, I do like the ones I have.

Agreed... When I say "pocket pistol," I'm only talking about something the size of an LCP, nothing bigger.
I consider up to maybe a 43 a pocket pistol but agreed otherwise. I known there are "guns you dont even feel" of the smaller variety and that some even carry a 26 sized gun in the pocket.

It is stupid IMO. EDIT: let's say gimicky.

Get a pocket holster and the regular p365 works fine and is still really competent at 25 or even 50 yards (must be true to the trigger at 50). Not as good as a bigger pistol of ciurse but still competent.

You might know it is there in the pocket though. It is heavier than say a LCP. If nothing else, having 10+ rounds of 9mm will do that.

I would be really tempted if they offered the regular with the porting

I'm really not a fan of porting. The 9 mm version certainly doesn't have excessive recoil anyway. Not even certain if there is a 40. 40s are always punishing in small packages.

Not exactly sure how Sig pulls off this magic. I think it has to do with a heavier slide and or perhaps they undercut the trigger guard so you can get a higher grip on the gun. @Detroitgator edit: youd think it has a HIGH bore axis compared to say the great CZ and FN guns and should recoil more. If it does. I dont notice it.

Again, I could be called a low-end Glock fan boy, after being a Glock hater decades ago, but the 365 and 320 are homeruns on the range, no doubt.

My 320 subcompact 40 did not have the undercut in the trigger guard and was harder to control but I recently switched the subcompact grip module with a 320x compact. It has the undercut trigger guard and fits my hand much better.

I'm certainly limited in my knowledge of handguns so I may be way off base here. When I bought my Sig I had handled maybe 8 or 10 other guns in the 2 times I shopped. When they handed me the 365XL it took about 5 or 6 seconds to ask them to fill the form and take my money. It has to do with the undercut and extended beavertail. I don't know how exactly to explain but it feels like it automatically puts my hand and more importantly my wrist into perfect position. It's almost as if the grip is angled slightly further forward. Maybe that helps control the action of the slide?
At only a half inch longer than the standard 365 I don't see any disadvantages and the xl felt more natural using the sights.

It is spectacular.

I remember thinking why the hell did they bringing that out? they've already got guns in that slot.

Boy was I wrong. Everything that I didnt like about the p365 being a tad small for my carry gun, it fixes.

Disclaimer: Just watched about 20 seconds.

Thats cool, pocket carry is a gun, and he is shooting the pretend AK guy... but if the AK is at 20 yards instead of 3 feet, you dont want a pea shooter.

A competiton shooter like Hickok probably can hit with a pocket gun at extended ranges, but most of you cant.

He was ringing an 8" dinnerplate at what looked like 100 yards

yeah I didn't keep watching but he's a competitive shooter he can probably do that with a NAA mini revolver.

life's a lot easier with a real pistol in your hand for those kind of shots and childs play w a rifle.

I know guy like that who can hit at 300 yards with a 22 pistol (full size, Ruger Mark), but I assure you that's not most people. I don't even know how high he aims.

Yeah, and he's probably the kind of guy who holds the fish he caught way out in front of himself for pics! ;)

I thought thats how you supposed to hold a fish. He's probably got his son up a tree about 20 yards from the target shooting a pellet gun.
Momma was kind enough to stop by the store and pick me up a couple hundred rounds of 9mm, I looked at the receipt in the bag fux got me for $257.

I have a Glock 42, it is my swimming trunks gym shorts running into the store gun. I have a bunch of glocks and I tend to grab a full size over any of the compacts (all .40) the only 9mm I have left are a high power and a P7. The Glocks are just idiot proof, but I don’t love them. A colt fits my hand better as does a CZ. I wish CZ made the 97 in a 10mm, just because I have a ship ton of reloading stuff. Haven’t played with a Sig n 20 years, but they used to have spectacular single action triggers. Almost like my custom Vaqueros, almost

Random thoughts, by a damn gun belt not a skinny jean Michael Coors Somebody thing. If you carry concealed, practice drawing and shooting with a cover shirt on. Know what to do if you get a handful of shirt as second nature. When you get older, even the end of the longslide gets fuzzy;)

I used the Compare function (provided above) to see the difference between the P365XL vs my Springfield XDS 45ACP and was amazed that they're damn near identical in physical size!

The number of rounds is intriguing but I love having the 45.

My brother has a Springfield. It's ok if Croatian is your thing. He had some initially problems but it seems to have done better with more ammo through it. Does yours have the fiber optic sight? I like those.

The gun I'd REALLY prefer is the XL slide on the 365 (regular version) frame.

(edit: his is not the XDS, it is the older thicker XD something)

There are a lot of really good guns on the market. Even a Springfield or Taurus today is better than an off the shelf Colt of the 70s or 80s.

Mine does not have a fiber site but it does have the luminescent painted site. The "Croatian" thing doesn't bother me one bit as the gun is amazing for a single stack 45 acp that was designed for conceal carry and it simply works. I've had zero issues w/it.

I also own the Springfield XDM in 40S&W and love it even more but it's significantly bigger. It's so fun to shoot and is smooth.

A friend does some competitive shooting and his primary pistol is a Taurus 9mm. He loves it and says that it has never misfired. I have read a lot of positive reviews which seems to be warranted. Are there any negatives that I should be aware of?
