The problem is that I don't think Strickland is going to fire a coach consistently winning around 10 games a year, and Fuchs is more concerned about being a woke Ivy League school. The offense is good enough to win a lot of games and be exciting. It's the defense, ironically, that is a hindrance to our championship aspirations.

That being said, if Trashman stays healthy, we should he able to outscore everyone. Most of the SEC teaks cant score on air.

Defense is garbage and will be garbage for years. This is still the best team we ve had since 2009. It sure beats hoping knowing the game was over when the other team gets to 14 or 21.

I think the signatures difference here when comparing Mullen to Richt is that MR was better overall in recruiting. Not always great, but still better, and more balanced. If we were loading up on offensive players, all but ensuring that we'd be outscoring everyone for years to come, while neglecting the defense, so be it. But we're equally as inept in certain areas of recruiting offense, specifically at OL. So without an uptick in recruiting, and if we see no improvement on defense, we're not consistently winning 10 games, which is what kept Richt alive. Without wholesale changes, and some luck along the way over the next few years, that won't be happening.

And yes, we don't have a 2006 DL or a Siler(honestly, I'd take an Everett or Crum at this point). But even though the offense is fun to watch, and a welcomed change, the fact is this is still a league that requires you to have a defense on certain occasions. Sooner or later, you're going to have an off day. Even the prolific '96 team had three games where we were held to 28 or less offensive points(28, 28, 21). If we can't stop anyone, we're not winning anything. We'll just be guilty of wasting a world class offense the same way we were guilty of wasting a world class defense in years like 2009 and 2012.

We lost one game in 09’ and Bama was tough as hell

To those who’ve watched a little film, can anyone explain why Bogle isn’t starting? He’s bulked up and dude looks like a freak out there. He’s even been solid against the run. Which I thought he’d struggle with considering his small frame. Even in limited snaps I expect him to have a monster game this weekend.

Not all coaches decisions are based on performance... and over Mullens 11/12 years as a head coach he bases a lot of decisions on seniority. Just the fact of the matter at this point, too much evidence to say otherwise.

I understand. Just seems that if your defense is playing this bad you should be willing to adapt. We need difference makers.

It took him a year and a half to adjust his system to Leak, took him a year and a new OC to truly adjust to Trask, he hasn't cut the under performing coordinators/position coaches. Mullen's loyality is both a great strength, but his greatest weakness. The man is stubborn to a fault.

Crazy that you’re the voice of reason, but you’re right. Even with our deficiencies, the offense may be enough to carry this team.

Has anyone looked around college football this year? Every team looks heavily flawed. Bama’s win over A&M wasn’t that impressive. They gave up 300 yards to Kellen Mond. They just scored so much on offense that everyone just overlooks it. I feel comfortable going in to the game that a team will need to score at least 35-40 to beat us.
If Mond gets hot it could be a long day for the Gators. I think he has a lot of potential.
