Apparently we abandoned relentless effort. Mullen is way too nice. Killer instinct needed on play calling and staff ;).

Nothing about this team is championship level. Watched a lot of football today and the level of play from our game compared to Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, etc...is not even close.

I could go on for days about how bad our defense is but that's beating a dead horse. You have an overrated, outdated, overpaid, poor DC with a bunch of guys who have either been fired or let go at other places. When you hire guys who were coaching at UTSA, guys who got fired and had 0 offers to stay in the NFL, and GAs coaching LBs, this is the kind of defense you're going to have. Good coaches get plucked. There is a reason our defensive staff isn't.

Offensively, sure it's fun but it's only fun and "good" because we had guys like Tyler Murphy and Luke Del Taco playing QB for us in the past. Trask is no Lawrence. Pitts could start on any of the top teams in the country but outside of him, not a single starter on offense would start for a team like Clemson.

We're not even close to being elite and never will be with this staff or any staff until UAA invests in the program. From facilities to coaching staff; you have to buy the best to be the best.

So yes the season is over. Georgia will rape us. The rest of the teams except Vandy have just as good as a shot to beat us.

I had forgotten what an aggressive, almost vicious defense looks like until I watched Clemson last night

I can vaguely remember when we played with passion like that

Trask is no Lawrence. Pitts could start on any of the top teams in the country but outside of him, not a single starter on offense would start for a team like Clemson.

I’d take our WRs and RBs over almost any program in the country. Task may not be Lawrence, but If he keeps the pace up, he’ll be on the Heisman ballot.

If Dan Mullen lets grantham finish the season, he will have shown me he is the wrong man for the job. Our defense is NOT in shambles. For it to be in shambles, it has to exist FIRST. Mond looked like he was playing 7 v 7 out there and continuously only rush 3 despite not getting any pressure, is beyond stupid. I have thrown passing drills and gotten more pressure and the DL isn't even trying to get to me.

Pathetic what was put out there today.

Disagree a little.....hope left town when we failed to properly recruit a roster for defense 2 and 3 years ago....this defense has been taking on water since 2017 and although we were able to stick our finger in a couple of the holes in 2018-2019 it was plain to see once Greenard and Zuniga were hurt that we would be taken apart by any competent offense.

Hell we limped to a win over Uvag in the Obowl and had 600 plus put on us in the first game. Sh!t we let Chump and a guy named Bobo make us look silly and were a couple of dropped passes from losing to them last week.

I'm gonna guess Kentucky will put 500 plus yards on this defense and possibly UT too.

Florida football coach Dan Mullen, who said the Texas A&M crowd was a "major factor" in the fourth-ranked Gators' loss to the Aggies on the road Saturday, called on his administration afterward to allow for full attendance at next weekend's game in Gainesville, Florida.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently lifted COVID-19 restrictions, allowing stadiums around the state to operate at total capacity if they wish.

Mullen said he "absolutely" wants to have a full crowd of about 90,000 fans when Florida hosts LSU next Saturday.

"I know our governor passed that rule, so certainly, hopefully, the university administration decides to let us pack The Swamp for LSU next week," he said. "One hundred percent because that crowd was a major factor in the game. So I certainly hope our university administration follows the governor."

If I was dan and had to pay Granthams buyout out of pocket I would...promote Gray as interim to hold on to our recruits

At the risk of dragging politics into this(technically he did), you start the season with a BLM march because, you know. Then 3 weeks in you want to fall back on the technicality that the Republican governor has opened things up?

Yep. Starting to really dislike this guy and he is clearly reeling.

I remember him going nuts on Sidehat in a postgame after Sidehat gave up 500 yards.

Of course Sidehat left two weeks later for a "lateral move".

Gators have the offense and special teams to play with any team in the country, defense not so much.
Its pretty easy to figure out what the problem is though, we have the same coaches from last year that produced a top 10 team on defense. It simple the coaching hasn't changed the players have.

Why? Recruiting is probably the number one issue here. To put it mildly recruiting on the defensive side of the ball has not been what it needs to be for Fl. to compete a high level. Until it gets better the Gators defense is what it is, with Fl. fighting for 2nd , 3rd of fourth place in the East.

How do you fix it recruit better of get someone that can

Regardless of how bad our defense was yesterday everything is still possible. Probably not likely but the Gators can still get to Atlanta, they can still make The College Football playoffs.
Stranger things have happened.

I've been a Mullen supporter outside of his poor recruiting. He took a major step back yesterday. Not because he's refused to make defensive coaching changes (even though that's a major issue), but because he demonstrated horrible leadership yesterday. I manage a team at work. I take full responsibility when something doesn't go right, even if it's one of my people that screwed up and not me personally. I don't make excuses, I figure out how to fix it and get the job done. Even if there's a reasonable explanation for a failure, I still own it and figure out how to make sure it doesn't happen again. Mullen blaming the "crowd noise" which was not even 30% of the noise that's regularly on display every weekend was embarrassing to say the least. That is not what leaders do. I'm not on the fire Mullen train, but he severely disappointed me yesterday.

I’m in agreement with you BUT let’s admit Trask a few head scratching moments yesterday. His stat sheet was very good but he got very lucky with penalties and whatnots.

For the record for the zillionth time: I was not on board with the Mullen hire but up until yesterday have been pleasantly surprised with the W-L results he's produced, especially given the mess left by his two predecessors. Like everyone here, I've detested Grantham since that display in the WLOCP years ago.

Yesterday was a disgusting, pathetic display of defensive football. As I've stated, Grantham's defense is woefully deficient both schematically and fundamentally. We made an average QB look like Johnny U yesterday. Worse, there's a pattern with this defense. You can't even call it "defense". We need to come up with a name for the time we don't possess the ball while not bothering to stop the other team from racking up yardage and points. Because what we've seen through 3 games so far when opponents have the ball ain't "defense".

Mullen's postgame comments were downright silly and I agree, betray a lack of "ownership" for the bottom line results.

I am not on the "Fire Mullen" train yet. But he needs get rid of (or reassign) Grantham now. He needs to man up in with his "program ownership" attitude. And that attitude/culture needs to be manifested in his comments to his team and the media. And by God, the mother fuchsing recruiting needs to improve.

As we all peer over the edge, at this particular moment in time, keep one thing in mind before leaping: no one I know of predicted we'd go undefeated. Our realistic goals are still, theoretically, in front of us - somewhere around 8-2 with beating the Humpers.

That bit of Pumperism stated, based on our defense's performance thus far and absent significant improvement on that side of the ball, we'll be very lucky to finish .500.
