Everyone wants the damn French door in spite of well known design flaws....Side by side works great by Whirlpool....I don’t get it
I also have a Kenmore (top freezer bottom fridge) that's probably 20 years old. That has an issue where it drips from the top, inside the fridge. It's not hooked up to watter and I've removed the ice maker. It's an issue where the drain line freezes and backs up on the base of the freezer, and then drips into the fridge.

Try a little vinegar in the drain or canned air

No go. Done it all. Take apart, cleaned & cleared the drain line multiple times. It's good for a couple months and then back to it old self.

Owned one french door, never again. Side by side is by far the best. Go with the design that works.

The next that you have the freezer apart take some small bare copper wire and wrap it around a piece of the defrost element and extend it a few inches down the drain hole in the freezer compartment. The wire should be size 18 or 20 awg.

My icemaker assembly just fell apart last night for probably at least the fifth time. In order for me to fix it I have to completely empty the freezer drawers open the big drawer scoonch down onto the floor where I can slide my legs under the drawer front and twist onto my back so I can get both hands up under the unit to reassemble the fuking thing. It's a mf for me to contort 235 lbs like that.

I'm glad that I talked myself out of the dual ice maker.

OK, tonight i'm just out of the shower upstairs, the bathroom door closed and I'm putting on my makeup. I hear a loud noise downstairs that sounded almost like someone fell and jerked down some window blinds or something. I throw on my clothes and head downstairs. momma is there in her chair doing a soduko or crossword.

"What was that loud noise I heard?"
"What noise?"
"I thought someone was breaking down the front door."
"Oh, I went to get some ice and it seemed stuck, I don't think anythings broke."

I went into the kitchen, slid the freezer drawer open and there as I expected was the ice tray, the front tray bracket that holds the defrost element, the foam pad that supports the element lying in the ice cubes and the element hanging by the wire. If I could hear the icemaker being ripped out of its place upstairs, how is it she thinks nothing is broken. Then she comes over and says "Honey I don't mind if you want to buy a new refrigerator. I just hate seeing you stand on your head trying to fix that thing." How hard is it to understand when you try to open the drawer and it only partially opens that something is wrong and not to just snatch it till it opens? Just go buy another one.

Can we go back to part at the beginning where you note you are “putting on my makeup?”

Where do I sign up for the Samsung class action lawsuit with the ice maker? Ours is maybe five years old and it was replaced once in the first week. Our ice maker was "fixed" several times by Seedy out of warranty. We finally gave up altogether and put an ice bucket in the bottom freezer drawer and just bring up ice from the cheapy bar freezer downstairs.

WORST REFRIGERATOR EVER

Stick with the Whirlpool side by side with ice and water in the door. Tried and true design and excellent manufacturer.

I can’t believe I sold our Kenmore side by side for this POS. I’m ok with the layout of the French doors though. When Pelosi gets me my stimulus money I’m buying a fridge just like hers. (sarcasm implied)

My brother is coming to visit for a few days next week so I'm waiting till he's gone before I order another refrigerator. Sure as hell we would be without a refrigerator while he's here. I went ahead and fixed the icemaker again. The heating element low voltage wires were actually broken in two this time so I had to splice that before re-assembling the ice maker. I didn't have any heat shrink connectors and had to use electrical tape so I'm sure that's gonna fail sooner than later from temp and moisture. Plus I broke one of the tray hangers on the door trying to unpack the freezer but was able to superglue the broken pieces back together and thats holding for now. I'm thinking FrigidAire side by side this time.

Showing off just because we all made bad choices with Samsung. :stickpoke:

I’d start a new thread asking washer and dryer choices but I’ve been informed that the t&c’s from GCMB doesn’t allow for such whimsical threads. :lol2:

Electrolux front loader w/d for all you wanting to know and I wouldn’t recommend them.

Samsung and LG are both made in South Korea and probably in the same plant. :)

Didn’t know that so I guess it has to do with the location of the ice maker in the French door models.
My SIL recently bought a counter-depth LG french door that was leaking and freezing under the veggie bin. So I looked inside and it looked identical to my Samsung.
