Trask has to be in the driver's seat for the Heisman, right?

We aren't the ones voting, dork. There's an OSU bias and you know it.

Fields has completed 85% of his passes so far this season. 85 percent. Never seen a completion percentage that high.
Yeah but we've got the whole high school back up story going in our favor. I've never even heard of such.

Is it really? Makes no sense. That's not the normal protocol. Why are they awarding prior to the end of the season?
Weed has eaten your brain , Spicoli. Heisman vote has always occurred before championship games.
Dec 7th this year - finalist are announced on the 12th but the voting deadline is the 7th.

Nope. You're flat out wrong Threat. Heisman is always awarded after conference title games and before the Bowls. My brain is fine. Not sure what to think about yours.

Glad you thought of @BMF as most should when starting a thread and creating a title. Your title is really good but should never ask a question. Should have just made it a statement.

“Trask has to be in the driver’s seat for Heisman”.
The proper form is:

Main Sports Forum Debate: Trash has to be in the driver’s seat for Heisman

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that he’s one of the two top contenders for the award considering where this dude was just a year and a half ago.

it is too bad the award goes out before championships. A win vs bammer would ice it but as the situation stands it favors fields.

Two things.

One: Fields should not get heisman consideration because he is going to play far less games than trask.

Two: Fields has played NO ONE.

We all agree with you.....but you know how Heisman voters are.

All I can say is that Trask winning this award would be one of the greatest stories in the history of college football.

The voters and media won't think of that. What they saw was Trask dropping dimes into receivers hands, breaking a school record of most passing yards against uga, and being the only SEC QB ever to throw 4 TDs 5 games in a row, all against a top 5 team.
To add, a big part of a highly ranked unit is their coach. Like it or not, Kirby’s claim to fame is his prowess as a DC, which is well-deserved based on his upbringing and service under Saban. I also think that a GA stint with Mickey Andrew’s was part of his development. You can argue his defensive success at UGA, but until last evening, he’s pretty much had the upper hand against us defensively. All that being said and considered, his inability to adjust to the wheel routes was a big key and frankly puzzling.

But I’m not complaining and I have to give Mullen credit for scheming it and going to it consistently. Maybe Kirby had more on his mind than their defensive plan for us, like maybe managing his QB misadventures, which has become a pretty hot topic up Athens way. Performances like they had today will keep the descriptor of “elite” out of the conversation.

That’s because they haven’t moved the Heisman ceremony date. The SEC championship game had been pushed back when the season got pushed back.

Unless I am mistaken, the Heisman ceremony has always happened after the conference championship games. This would be a first.

One thing in Trask's favor is that he's from Texas. It won't be like Tebow in 08 when those midwest d-bags purposely left him off the ballet so he wouldn't win. There's really no Big 12 players in consideration this time, so I think Trask will take in the votes from that area. Hate that it's so political, but what isn't nowadays.

For Trask to come in as a supposed barely 2* afterthought project and is now playing like a 5* first round NFL Stud is just something special. That just shows how hard Trask has worked and how well he has been coached up by Mullen. Trask was pretty good last year but this year he has taken that next step and the stats show that big time. Trask with 22 passing TDs already. He had 25 all of last year. Trask is just balling out and leading this team to success. Go Gators!!

Fields and Ohio State will play one team all year that may end the season in the top 25 and thats fuching Indiana. The big 10 is a complete joke this year, that said unless Fields gets injured or covid and misses a lot of time he's a lock for the Heisman. Trask will be #2, Lawrence will be #3 Bama's QB will be #4. The 3 qb's in the Southeast splitting that vote and Fields winning the Midwest and Northeast will make him a lock. Fields is the best player in the country this year so I don't really have an issue with it.
