@FootballScoop: Please join me in keeping the Schlarman family in our prayers. Rest in peace Coach. You were an example to so many. God bless you.

Does anyone else think how poorly they are playing had something to do with his death? At the very least, Stoops is likely to be hit with a civil suit.

Personally, I doubt it. UK has pretty much always sucked with a very few exceptions. No idea about any possible civil suit...

It is possible that if his health struggle was known to all the players and he was really liked by them. Knowing somebody you are close to is deteriorating right before your eyes can really weigh on you and distract you from the day-to-day. If that was the case then there may also be a big spring back as they rally for him and want to win in his memory.

A close Army buddy of mine was a walk on at Kentucky during the time Schlarman was there and they were friends. Schlarman was way undersized OG who eventually made all SEC. Army buddy told me Schlarman was a genuine good dude, made sure the under classman and walkons were welcome, helped them out, encouraged them at practice, basically the kind of guy you hope your daughter marries.

I never understand why bad things happen to good people.

IMO, for the same reason that good things happen to bad people. Or, for another angle,

Matthew 5:45: Father which is in heaven: for he maketh. his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

From my man Clive Staples Lewis:
“God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.”

Or maybe Lynne Anderson?

"I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there's got to be a little rain sometimes"
