To be fair, Wuerrfel's stats do not include SECCG or bowl.

Also, SOS preferred to score 50 quickly and let Danny sit the 4th quarter.

Also to be fair, Wuerffel didnt have an OC who wanted to run the option and sideways passing.
SECCG is considered part of the regular season, his bowl game stats were not included.

Wuerffel's stats do include the the SECCG. On all his stats it shows the stats as accumulated over 12 games. UF played 11 regular season games in 1996 and the 12th game was the SECCG. You can also go game by game if you want to take trouble.
the official stats didnt include post season until.... 2002 I think.

And they did not change the others retroactively.

Bowl games are considered post season, not conf championship games. Man you are stubborn. Go look at the game by game stats and count the TD passes Danny threw.

As good as Wuerffel’s 1996 season was — and it was a great one — Trask is on pace to top it. We shouldn’t try and deny it but rather celebrate it. This big overachieving kid from Texas is a remarkable story in the making.

Now on to the important numbers.

#4 The number of Heisman-winning quarterbacks UF will have if Trask wins it as expected, a college first.

#4 The number of SECCG wins over Bama if we somehow succeed on Dec. 19. (God willing if our defense finally learns how to tackle someone.)

#4 The number of national titles in our trophy case if ...

Okay, I better stop there befour I jinx it all.

For Trask to have such a special season like he is having is just truly remarkable. He was considered nothing as a prospect coming out of high school and under the teachings and coaching of Mullen he has turned in one of the greatest seasons in the history of college football. Remember at the end of last season we lost a ton of our top WRs and all I heard about here was that Trask was going to be used as an option like QB all year and not pass that much. Well here we are with countless records later. Trask one of the greatest Gator QBs of all time.

I hate to ruin your motif, but if we win the SECCG it will be our 5th win over Bama for the title (‘93, ‘94, ‘96, & ‘08). Nonetheless, carry on.

Well we did beat a winless Vandy and the worst UT team since 1896, so we did have at least two cupcakes.

All against SEC opponents. No cupcakes.
Between these silly as sniffle rules, kids sitting out and the grind of playing an all sec schedule, I beleive the bottom tier teams have really been kicked in the nuts.

Teams that would be 7-5, w four wins over cupcakes, are now looking at 2-8 or 3-7. It is tough on the kids psychologically and has indeed made many of the sec east cupcakes.

I wish we didnt rotate players on every play but keeping kids fresh has helped us too.
