In a heartfelt letter, FSU Director of Athletics David Coburn expressed the heartbreak he's experiencing in having to announce how FSU is cutting 20% of its athletic department budget.

The cuts include the elimination of 25 full-time positions within the athletic department and sliding-scale salary reductions -- and possibly furloughs -- for everyone making $43,000 or more annually.

Coburn also said that head coaches in all sports -- led by football's Mike Norvell, men's basketball Leonard Hamilton and women's basketball Sue Semrau --- have taken "significant pay reductions" as part of these measures.

According to an athletics spokesperson, Norvell took a 25 percent pay cut to help offset cuts for his staff. Coburn took a 20 percent cut. And basketball coaches Hamilton and Semrau took 15 percent pay cuts.

You know in circumstances like we have now, we may see reality return to some of these institutions. I assume that at FSU and many universities, football gives life to a whole ecosystem of sports and AD employees. If the restrictions + missed games (+ FSU's cowardly cancellations & bad financial decisions) erode enough of the football revenues, some of these other sports programs and insulated university leaches may face an unsympathetic reality. I'd feel bad for some of the athletes, but if some of the fat in higher education could be cut, that'd be a great thing.

If only this approach “cutting fat in higher education “ could be implemented at every state university, the cost of a college education would drop significantly

If any team needed reps, it's this Noles team. Do you really think a month off has helped them?

Looking forward to this Duke game.

Cutcliffe has had a really solid career, and it may be coming to an end this year. The last thing he'll want for his legacy is being upset by the noles in a classic look-ahead game.

Lil Wayne said nobody talks **** like Lane Kiffin.
Lil Wayne never met SOS, apparently. The Merry Flipmas tweet is the funniest smack I can recall from kiffy, so I give him credit for that. However, kiffy typically talks trash with all the sharp wit of a 6th grader.
