I don't get the ND hate - aside from the usual "eff the Domers" stuff. They belong in the playoff, IMO. They played a full schedule - for this year, anyway. They worked hard to cobble together 11 games and actually friggin played them, unlike the Clowns who dodged heavyweights like Wake and Duke, and the Bucknuts, who managed to pull out their tampons ong enough only to play only 6 games. And yes, they beat a depleted Clemmy team and got hammered when Clemmy was at full strength, but still.
As much as I loathe Jumbo, and I do, aTm belongs instead of the Bucknuts. While I agree that aTm didn't play exactly a murderer's row of opponents, they did split their 2 games against top-4 competition. The Bucknuts played half the games the other playoff teams played, they played no one of note and did not look good yesterday against Vandy North. Frankly, they should not even have been in the conversation, based on playing only 6 games. So, I wonder what the cutoff for such a "blue blood, Big10 school" is for playoff consideration. 5 games? 4? How about they whup up on Miami of Ohio, then just wait for their playoff invitation. Friggin infuriating.
There was a time when I respected Big10 football. I grew up watching the epic tilts between Woody and Bo and loved watching each yard gained in a cloud of dust. Ever since those mother-f*cking pussies, led by that whining ass scab Herbie, lobbied for a rematch of OSU-Meatchicken in the '07 BCS game, based in part about how badly either team would destroy us - I can't stand them. Our complete destruction of the Nuts in that game was absolutely glorious.
And the sooner Herbie exits the broadcasting stage, the better. I can recall not a single announcer I loathe more than him. As much as Deckerhoff makes me want to puke, at least he's open about the team he roots for (though perpetually a candidate for most disloyal Gator ever).
Last night and so far today, man, I feel like kicking my dog.
