I saw Joe and Janis Joplin close out the 1st Atlanta Pop Festival in 69 with a set together
I knew it was first recorded by The Box Tops, did not know it was written by the same guy that wrote Always on My Mind, Wayne Carson. I always thought Willie wrote that.
Pretty sure you're thinking of their smash hit "How Much is that Doggie in the Window".The Pet Shop Boys wrote it first
Another good one...from the Box Tops I think...
My guitar teacher when we lived in Franklin was Gary Talley, lead guitarist for the Box Tops. Super nice guy.
If this is Mr Talley how about giving him a call and ask him wtf kind of 12 string is he playing

Agree about Brooker. He's simply gotten better with age. This post below is one I put in the "Music on your mind" thread a long while back, but it's worth putting in here as well. Same song as above, so it's not a cover but IMO, this is THE best version of Whiter Shade of Place I've ever heard. Stunning. Takes slightly over a minute into the video to get to the song, but well well worth it.Incredible lineup. Brooker seems to have as much range as ever.
