@Jay26 , let me tell you how today goes, in honor of your now cancelled thread

You spend the first 3 hrs hitting refresh on the twatter and becoming increasingly disappointed.

By 11am you plug in bc your battery is low, then take a small hiatus to eat lunch hoping it happens while you've put the phone down. A watched pot...

By 1pm your phone is back in hand and frustration is mounting. By 3pm your creating a GC thread titled, "wtf are you waiting for dannn!?"

Dinner time, but no desert for you. Reality has set in, your wife is keeping her distance, the dog has a bruised rib and your kids are scared.

7pm - alcohol is doing the talking now and that wtf thread on GC is getting real interesting. You filet a couple of pump excusers on the board while your wife is busy cancelling evening NYE plans bc she doesn't want to risk public embarrassment. "It's just a game, dear" she says to you, very sheepishly.

10pm - :deadnanner:
Oh....some must still care...I lost that feeling 4 or 5 years ago....

I wonder who in their right mind would come to work for Mullen. My Cowbell booster friend once told me that a few of his hirings (side hat and 1 other DC come to mind) were not first choices, making their admins nervous as hell. I don’t believe it’s out of bounds to think that his hiring skill is any better than his nonexistent recruiting prowess. For instance, If Hevesy and Gonzales were worth a shyt at anything other than being his “yes” man they would be at minimum OC’s elsewhere by now.
It’s time for this lazy, excuse-making mofo to learn how the trap door works.

Who in the hell wouldn't want to work for him?? A multiple six figure salary to f vck off and ignore recruiting, coaching, and never producing anything of value while being wrapped in a security blanket by him....and his boss? Sign me up....If I put forth that type of effort in my current job I'd put 11 other people out of work and fold up a 30 year old business, and be held financially liable....

I'm pretty sure English was let go because of recruiting violations, and Gray is "moving on" aka got offered another job. Mullen is loyal to a fault so those reasons, along with promotion elsewhere, are the only reasons someone will leave. He won't fire for performance.

Working for Mullen is like being a tenured teacher. No matter how poorly you do your job you still get paid.

I’m asking this from Grantham’s perspective. Yes, I know he sucks. But, I’m curious as to the staff’s point of view. So, to @ltraz and others more knowledgeable, why would Torrian Gray not be a fit for Grantham’s scheme? Is it purely personality? Or, is it something Gray doesn’t do?

From what we saw on the field this year Gray and English should go. Obviously Grantham should follow them out the door but not likely. The fundamentals and in game secondary schemes were awful and embarrassing. Sideline blitzes , busted coverages and of course our UF special ankle tackling technique, was way too prevalent.
These 2 coaches were being paid close to 1M combined. If Robinson is the guy would he pick up all secondary responsibilities as Co DC? Looking at his latest Cock salary of 1.2M we probably need to pay him north of 1.5 to 1.7M. So if he handles both safety and corners the hit to the salary line is manageable. Plus you get a guy who could take over if TG leaves. 78's post of Robinson's recruiting resume tells a good story. His Miami SFLA connection should be a plus as well. This may be as good as it gets until Grantham gets the boot.

I still have a hard time believing Grantham won't be "moving on" next week sometime. We can make fun of Mullen all we want but there's no way someone has gotten than far in life and is that big of an idiot (I hope). If he keeps Grantham and the defense doesn't improve next year he'll be coaching for his job in 2022 with a new DC. If he lets fat Todd go this year I think he buys himself an extra year.

I know a lot of you keep bringing up his blind loyalty to his "friends" but how many of you would be that loyal to any of your friends or even family when the problem is so obvious and there's 6+ million a year on the line?

If he doesn't let Grantham go this year I honestly believe Mullen is ready to leave and looking for a way out. If true then Muschamp and Zook would be the only coaches in my lifetime who didn't bail on us. Hall resigned, SOS went NFL, Meyer fake heart attack and Butters fuched a shark and lied about death threats while sporting Nebraska gear.
If he keeps Grantham then he's basically telling his wife and children fuch you, I know things are great but I've gotta fuch it all up because I like this dude.

I realize you didn’t ask me, but I did tell @BMF a few weeks ago that I would divulge some info on Gray if and when he was officially gone. Just to give you an idea of the dysfunction of the defensive staff, when Jeremiah Williams committed to UF back in October, Gray was actually informed of it by someone I know who saw it in Twitter. Basically he congratulated him on the pick up, and Torrian had no clue. This was roughly 3 to 4 hours after the announcement. He actually said he didn’t even know we were taking another LB.

Probably not the end of the world. It’s not his position and I don’t know how much coaches generally know of the macro element of recruiting. But as I said, I think it’s sheds some light on where Gray stood on the team, how checked he may have already been at that point, and how unorganized we are in this area. I just hear stories about rooms full of coaches celebrating with big commits giving their pledge and war rooms mapping things out closer to NSD. We have neither it seems.

That speaks volumes about organizational level attention to detail, which we don’t have. I don’t think it is in Mullens personality either. From him forcing coaches to take time of, to he and the Missus interaction with players. Maybe a big family, but not of warrior mentality. Mentioned it before but when I saw that HBO special on the Gators the only person exhibiting fire was Savage. The pregame looked entirely relaxing... I’m probably just old and from a different time

Grantham isn’t going anywhere. If he were, it would’ve happened already. Grantham will leave when Mullen does....sometime around 2023.

If Robinson comes as Co-DC or DC and secondary coordinator it will be a significant upgrade. The article on 247 said Mullen is looking to improve recruiting in staff replacements. That’s all moving in the right direction. I agree Grantham should go.

We have a Star Wars room, where “The Empire Strikes Back” is on continuous loop in the weeks leading up to NSD. Does that count.

This comes close to what I think.

I want Grantham friggin gone yesterday. Like many here, I have never seen such schematically and fundamentally poor defense as what Grantham has brought, especially this season. Mullen needs to make this change to restore what teeny, tiny, infinitesimally small hope I ever had in him. I still can't fathom how poorly we ended the season and how we actually seemed to regress as the season wore on.

That said, whacking these morons is a start.
