@PeteThamel: SOURCES: UCF’s Josh Heupel is finalizing a deal to be the next coach at Tennessee. Details here at @yahoosports: Sources: UCF's Josh Heupel finalizing deal to become Tennessee's next head coach

Shocked he would move now, honestly. Heupel would have had a top 10/15 UCF team this coming year and a chance at a NY6 Bowl game if the ball bounced his way (Cincy would be the toughest competition there, but they lose parts of the defense that made them good, so it'll be a toss-up in that game this year).

His resume is good enough to wait for--and get--a job at an upper-tier program that's not going to be facing NCAA sanctions and a total rebuild on the roster. It'll be years before Tennessee is good, even under a best-case scenario. Frost is learning that the hard way: a brilliant coach, but lacks the talent to make his system go and finding it hard on the recruiting trail to sell a presently losing program.

There are no shortage of UCF fans celebrating this.

But what is awesome is that this is like a double burn. Yes you get rid of your coach that has a losing record to Tulane, but at the same time he leaves YOU for UT which even burned to the ground with bums peeing on it is a better option than your school.

Yep, and Heisman winner.

He was the qb for Oklahoma when they buried the Nulls in 2001

He didn't win the heisman, he was the runner up in 2000.. He was on Oklahoma's staff when that kid won it in 08.

This isn't what I meant.

@PeteThamel: SOURCES: UCF DC Randy Shannon will be the interim coach at UCF.

You’re right, I stand corrected.

For some reason, I had it in my head that he won the Heisman that year.

Either way, not really an upgrade for the Vols.
