South Carolina hired Nick Coleman, the OC at a Miss JUCO, as an analyst - he was previously an OC and QB coach at Tenn Tech and Tenn State and played college QB at Middle Tenn. Anyhow, the significance of this: Muschamp only had two analysts on his staff while at SC, one on offense and one one defense. This is the 5th analyst added to Beamer's staff (which is still a terrible staff, similar - or worse - than what Butters put together his first year at UF).

We have one of each like it is still 1979 also.

I think most of us wouldn't be too happy if we had hired this guy, but he's about to take over CB's at Alabama:

From Footballscoop:

The first month and a half of 2021 are only a microcosm of Valai’s entire career. The 32-year-old worked as a trainer for five years out of college before joining coaching as a quality control coach at Georgia in 2016-17.

From there, he spent 2018 in a similar role with the Kansas City Chiefs. After one year there, he joined Chris Ash’s Rutgers staff as cornerbacks coach, then went to Texas for 2020.

And now, after all of two seasons as a full-time position coach, Valai can say he’s worked in the NFL and for Nick Saban.

I was just reading footballscoop....

Maryland is hiring a new DC because their DC last year is headed back to the NFL to be the DB's coach for the Falcons - Jon Hoke. Huh? That dude was Spurrier's DC after Bob Stoops. How old was he when he got the DC job at UF? That was 22+ years ago. (I just googled him - he just turned 64 years old in January. So he was early 40's when he landed the UF DC job). Wow. He spent the 2015 season as Spurrier's DC at SC. And I didn't know this - his brother is Brady Hoke.

Speaking of old UF coaches:

Maryland: Ron Zook is expected to be promoted to special teams coordinator

Sounds like it's done.

@PeteThamel: Sources: UCF is close to finalizing a deal to make Gus Malzahn the next football coach. An announcement is expected as soon as today.

Very good hire for UCF. At Malzahn's age he probably stays there the rest of his career, which prevents UCF from having to hire a new coach every 2 to 4 years (if the coach is younger and has success before moving on to a bigger program). His offense will probably translate well in G5.

Wow. UCF just hired the second best coach in the SEC.

At least Tinerc was too stupid to hire him.
