Publicize hit streak: hit streak immediately ends?
It's still a great achievement Gator Young.

I watched it, not bad for a midweek game.

Agreed. Stetson is usually a little better than the other cupcakes we play... and there are rarely "cupcakes" in baseball anyway... other than maybe Florida A&M. Looked bleak when we were down 5-0, especially since the umpire decided he was gonna be the MVP for at least a couple of innings for Stetson.

That umpire last night was ridiculous, particularly during the 2nd or 3rd inning I think. Even our commentators were calling him out for calling strikes of pitches 6 inches of the plate. And that's not an exaggeration. He basically decided to take an entire inning of hitting away from us just because our dugout started complaining about one of his calls.

Umpire culture, and baseball culture, is just bizarre (and stupid). A reaction of an umpire to punish a team for hurting his ego isn't even looked down upon.

oh it is nice but part of me knows it was not needed. And granted I have no idea how loud it could get if 7500+ were there say in a super regional, but I know first hand how loud the MAC got with 6000 in a game 3 super regional. Don;t think that the new park will get that loud.

So in other words, they took the real advantage away just like they did to the O’Connell Center?

The fans are 12 feet further away in the new arena and it is no longer the House of Horrors in any way

Oh, I would say it is still a House of Horrors. Isn't Mike still the coach? I rest my case. Finishing with home losses to a horrendous USCe team and a middle of the road Mizzou team? Horrors indeed, LOL

Yeah the closeness of the fans in basketball was pretty much the best thing we had going for us but we aren't gonna be elite ever again anyway unless Billy ever decides to come back.... Let's not pretend like that 6 feet is why it's not loud though... We all know it's because our students are just not rowdy at all. Our football stadium hasn't changed at all, and we still have a full stadium for the big games but it is not as loud as it used to be. Sitting in the student section during the meyer years compared to now is night and day and I don't think it has anything to do with how good the product is on the field. If you sit in that student section now, a quarter of them are looking at their cellphones or recording on their cell phones. Another quarter of them are international students who have never even been to a football team and are there for the spectacle more than anything else.

Anyway, now that I'm completely off topic... I feel like noise in a baseball stadium isn't that big of a deal when compared to other sports. Home field advantage in baseball is more about being where you are comfortable and being used to the routine that day and hearing that the fans are behind you. Whether the decibel level is 90 or 100 it probably doesn't matter that much.

But yeah yeah I know they spent a lot of money on a sport that doesn't really make us much back.

Incompetent coaching reared its ugly head against Jax Friday night. No discipline at the plate, on the mound and in defensive fielding. Gators have the best talent in the country but fail to execute in every aspect of the game. That is coaching incompetence.

Our pitching has been awful this year. And even more abysmal in the 8th and 9th innings. We seem very unfocused. Yes, we get everybody's best shot, but we are not playing to our full potential.

I'm concerned about the pitching and defense but Sully is notorious about not placing value in the preseason (f$u, scUM excepted). If you really want to waste your time go watch the Gators in the SEC tournament just before the CWS.

@Bullag8r maybe time for a coaching change? do we let go of our all time winningest coach finally? do we wait until the season is over? Looks like we might have openings in our 3 major sports sometime next year if Sully, White, and Mullen can't get things together.

Based on the 2 games I went too and listening last night, I am most concerned about the defense. They are just not good defensively. Out side of Fabian I don't trust any of the guys with the glove. To me it starts with Rivera at SS. He reminds me a little of Brady McConnell but Rivera is worse. McConnell could make the spectacular play, but struggled with routine stuff. Rivera struggles seemingly on every play.

Sully is the all time winningest coach because of his recruiting, certainly not his coaching. I am not calling for him to be fired poste-haste, I am merely making an observation and I stand by my observation. His teams are soft. They come to show off and the other teams come to play ball.
