@Swamp Donkey - check out this Butters special hire:

Central Michigan: Northwood (D-II – MI) co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach Eli Reinhart has joined the Central Michigan staff.

Also - Jimbo makes a Mullen/Butters support staff hire:

Texas A&M: Harland Bower has joined the Texas A&M staff as a defensive analyst. Harland was the defensive line coach at South Alabama for the past three seasons.
You know, I probabky wouldnt mind if we had a huge staff. you could stuff it full of some up and comers.

if you only have two or three dudes though you can't have three little leaguers. these guys do most of the grunt work and you have to trust them. they're going to cut film at least make reports recommend thumbs up or thumbs down on most of these guys. the assistant coaches are only going to see their work product they're not going to see all the game film on these players. you have to be able to trust the work that's coming out of your quality staff for both game prep and recruiting.

we're stuck in the 80s thinking that our staff should be nine people and we should have a ga's and that's it.

there's a reason bammer and other large staff teams always looks like they know what's coming just from our formation and down and distance... it is because they do.

Brian Van Gorder (former head coach at Georgia Southern & Wayne State - and SEC DC at UGA and Auburn, also Notre Dame & Louisville) resigned from his position as Bowling Green DC (on Scott Loeffler's staff). He's decided to join former Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth's staff at Gulf Shores HS (in Alabama) - also on the Gulf Shores staff is former South Alabama OC Kenny Edenfield, who is the OC.

Former Broyles winner VanGorder retires from college; accepts new role
Hudspeth's coaching high school? He has been fired from every college he has been at for inappropriate behavior. Austin Peay suspended him before he resigned.

HUDSPETH!!!!

Fooley's #2 pick, actually #1 but he got talked into paying "big money" to hire Chimp by the rest of the committee.

I remember when old Dribblin Drooley identified hudspeth as an up-and-comer identified early by the coach whisperer GOAT Fooley.

I'm curious what he did at AP. Also surprised he didn't end up on a college or NFL staff as a QC or analyst. It is odd that his HS staff includes three former college head coaches or coordinator's.

I did a google search and found a reddit thread on Hudspeth. He apparently cheated on his first wife w/ a cheerleader at Northern Alabama (when he was the head coach there), got her pregnant and later divorced his wife and married the cheerleader. Now, at AP, he was sleeping w/ a walk-on players mom. The player confronted him about it, Hudspeth kicked him off the team, and several players went to the AD and reported it saying they wouldn't play for him if he was retained. They suspended him for violating the morals clause in his contract and he resigned.

And a high school hired him? We all know where this is going...

Wow. I would think Texas is the better job. He has a $7M buy out. Marquette should just wait till he's fired any day now.

I tend to agree NV, but other than Duke, Marquette spends a lot on their bball program. That is likely due to not having their own arena and playing at the Bucks arena. Still, Marquette is willing to throw resources at the bball team. That 7 million is chunk change for Marquette boosters. The Big East is also a pretty good basketball conference.

But I think the issue is Shaka won't have to be second place to the football team like he was at Texas. He's also from Wisconsin.

Hey Texas, Mike White is available!

This guy just cashed in - but if we had hired him most of us would be up in arms:

Former Houston, Texas area HS football coach (10 years as a head coach), goes to Rice as ST's coach, leaves Rice this off-season for Memphis as ST's coach, and is now being hired by Alabama w/out ever coaching a game at Memphis.
