Payne needed to go. The refs wouldn't give him a fair game all next season.
Payne was just practicing some much needed dental work pro bono for that Tenn player. He should be given an award for community service. Instead, the school that cant tolerate a Gator Bait cheer most likely asked Payne to find another team. Conflict Resolution and all that PC garbage.

True enough, the ut player had too many teeth to fit in up there. Payne was teaching the young man to lead by example and be more inclusive.

I'm just trying to figure out how MW has so many fans on twitter. Are these people not watching the same games I am? They had to want Muschamp and McElwain stay longer as well. I don't know if its just blind support or what, but it's crazy. My favorite thing they bring up is that Billy had a tough couple of years when he first started. As if the program then and when he left were the same. Which we know it wasn't.

The Gator team is transferring out from the front of the train, not the caboose area. That doesn't fit the usual makeup of the typical transferees.
Who are you talking about? This was a 2.5 man team with Mann and Castleton the 2 and Locke the point 5. Neither Mann nor Castleton are transferring. If the rumors are true Locke is going to try to find a school that will let him play point guard. Good luck with that lol, and good for the coaches for telling him if he wants to play point it’s going to be somewhere else. The rest of the transfers are a bunch of pine warmers. Payne is probably the biggest loss but he is a lot more potential than production up to this point.

White sucks no doubt, but are we really going to miss most of these guys? I would say no, but we are going to need some bodies so hopefully the staff is busy sorting through the 1500 or so available transfers.

These transfers will hollow out next year's team by the loss of "player-minutes" per game. I bet UF has lost the most "player-minutes" to the portal than any school? Sure, replace them with "better" players and all is well. Anyone believing Mike White is going to coach so many "unfamiliar newbies" into a solid functioning team, hitting on so many new cylinders? Anybody? Might this transfer exodus be a faltering we should not take lightly? Most have been thinking White is overdue for turning that corner heading toward doing well in the SEC?

Before this season began, many said if White cannot win big with this crew of players, it would cast shade on his ability to be the winning coach the University of Florida basketball program requires. Well, this 2021-2022 season performance will muddle-up next year's evaluation of White by adding the valid excuse of "can't expect White to make a team out of "strangers". Now of course, if White coaches this new team to be better developed, more "team co-ordinated, more winning than this year's team that went seeking "solid coaching" then he will have earned high praise and I will have earned "tar & feathers" for being such a picky fan.

If team productivity isn't going to miss these transferees, then under White Russkiev must greatly improve (develop), even Castleton must improve, Lewis too? An NBA-worthy talent (Mann) must be partially made-up for? I hope Payne comes back and White is a help to him? Who-the-hell has our coaching staff been a help to? = job performance for high pay? White has developed my curmudgeonry. So sorry- White has developed the bad-fan in me.

MW’s deficiencies aside....this portal is getting out of control. I just read 7 other SEC teams have at least 3 players now in the portal....with Ole Miss leading the way with 6.

Next season you will truly need a program to watch a basketball game.

I don’t know the rule specifically. But they should allow everyone one free transfer for only the following reasons:

1. New head coach
2. The player has not begun his sophomore year
3. Medical (personal or family) reasons approved

other than that - they have to sit out a year.

No matter the cause all these players wanting to leave is on the head coach, as is all the problems we had with Covid and closing games. Now perhaps new assistants would improve things but I believe it is time for a change at the top. I have come to this opinion only recently.

Start of the season, I had no doubts about Mike White but observing him and his trainees" White has convinced me to reject his coaching.
How for too many games he sat by placidly while our leads dwindled or theirs expanded.
We're not a good free-throw shooting team. Teach them. We execute poorly. Teach awareness & teach forceful dribbling. Too many times we We ignore passing to "big men" clearing toward the basket. 80% of the time, we don't even check. Teach that to improve that. Our passes, we stall, we project, and we pass too lazily. I mean we do not even check for the inside "tall". Payne hits 75% of those and Castleton 65%. Don't tell me about the ones Payne misses because most are in that 25% subtracted where he still hits 75%. But too many of our opponents better use the inside play, We fall flat at closing out games, leading to losing games that we should have won.

I cannot shut up until I see these things training towards solutions. Dribbling & FTs do not require organized practicing. Do it for yourself, no NCAA limit on that.

Give him a scholarship!

We might have to start crootin animals. This polar bear can dribble and would plug up the lane.

Back out any transfers who came in and just look at all of the recruits we brought in as freshmen. Other than KJ and maybe Nembhard....MW brought in a series of players that were totally unprepared for power 5 basketball. We talk about other issues but rarely discuss his poor assessment of HS players. We shouldn’t have to teach them how to shoot free throws or dribble a basketball. Most of those players are now playing at more appropriate levels or about to be.

I think MW does better with transfers because he has an additional chance to see if someone has appropriate skills. It masks the inability to assess HS talent. I will not be surprised if every transfer we get this year is better than his recruit transferring out.

I do believe that the new kid coming in is the real deal but have to see him on the court...not just video.

Having said all that....there is an old adage that you can’t fire the team...so you fire the coach. Yet we are in effect firing the team as we let them walk out the door. A quote I like more is a leader is ultimately responsible for all his unit does....or fails to do. There needs to be accountability for what has happened and I simply don’t see any at any level.

Again, not here to defend White because I’m definitely in the camp that he’s had more than enough time to show who he is and this is about it, upper 3rd sec finish and loss in the second round of the tournament. That’s not good enough for U of F.

But when you ask who the hell has the coaching staff helped, you seem to be ignoring Mann’s huge jump in his game year over year and Castleton’s surprisingly good year, coming in as a 2 pt 1 RB player. You also ignore losing the SEC preseason player of the year when talking about this being judgement year for white.

The thing is, factoring in the loss of Keyonte and all the missed games, the outcome this year of a second round loss isn’t what is so damming for white. It’s his inability to develop a team with an offensive identity and the fact that he just can’t help himself from neutering the team with stall ball every time they get a second half lead. All the talk about playing faster pace like he has wanted too all along was total BS. Just like every year we were in the bottom of the league as far as pace. White gets terrified every game he has a lead so he tries to dribble out 10 minutes of clock and hope to hold on for at least over time. This coaching “strategy” singlehandedly (well the crooked refs had a hand in it also) cost us a trip to the sweet 16 and possibly further in a weak bracket.

Bottom line is despite being a good guy and a good representative of the university, White is his own worst enemy so that makes him the fan’s enemy. Time to move on for both sides.

Yeah, we know the MW factor but with everyone getting a mulligan and extra year it's not surprising there are so many here and all over. I guess time will tell if this is just how it's going to be every year.

I don't disagree with most of what you posted, but the Gators led the SEC in FT% at 75.3% it's the first season in a long time that I didn't worry when once we were in the bonus, in the past knowing that we'd miss the front end of the 1 and 1 40-50% of the time.

My bad - but we don't make FTs in the tight games . I stand almost corrected ... yeah but their form was bad and they shot way too fast .. and they weren't careful not to drip sweat onto the ball ... and when the ref gave'em the ball, they didn't concernedly inquire about his family.

Harry Fodder: Setting the Grad Record Straight - Florida Gators

Wow shocking about players "not" graduating under White. Ended up being a bold faced lie. Doesn't matter cause with all these players leaving, its going to be hard to build a competitive roster this upcoming season so its going to be very tough for this team to even end up with a winning record so MW will be GONE for sure.
