1pm ESPN2
the Gators are in the first semifinal quad meet with Michigan, Cal, and Minnesota. Gators start on bars and finish on vault. Unfortunately, despite the strong regular season, the Gators enter the finals with questions and some doubts (maybe more perceived than real). National pundits have UF being the "surprise" upset loser in this first quad. The biggest question is which Trinity Thomas is going to show if at all? Trinity is the best gymnast in college today and when she is on with guaranteed 9.95-10 scores, perhaps only Oklahoma can beat UF. But she has not competed all-around in almost 2 months due to injury. In the time she has been out, the Gators have gone mentally wacko with unusual breaks and balks in routines leading to lower scores than the regular season. So bottom line, as Trinity goes, the Gators goes this weekend. In this first semifinal UF will need a solid 0.300 to 0.500 lead going into the final rotation. UF finishes on vault which is their weakest event while the other squads finish on their stronger events. They are not going to make up any ground on vault so they better be in a comfortable top 2 spot heading into this last rotation. Especially with Cal on bars which almost scored 5 perfect 10s during one meet this season. My hope is that Trinity is able to go and provides the calming effect on the rest of the team that allows them to skate through to finals. Hopefully we can preview Saturdays final! Go Gators!

I'm sure the audience will be several dozen people at least.
I have never watched a college gymnastics meet, because, other than the Olympics, I'm just not that into gymnastics. Clearly other folks are. Why must you run it down? I get that you personally only care about football and basketball, but Title IX is a fact of life and if UF is going to be spending the $ on women's sports shouldn't they try to compete for titles? Here's a Gator team with a decent shot at a Natty. As you are an alum, I should think you'd be happy for them or, at a minimum, be indifferent. (And even you should admit that women's gymnastics is a helluva lot more interesting than WNBA; watching grass grow is more interesting than WNBA.)
I know you love to be "the get off my lawn" guy, but it's really not that funny anymore. And the sad thing is you probably won't even respond with why you feel the need; you'll just give me a "stoned," a "looney," or something similar. Truth is, it's kinda sad.

Nicely said, but when did donkey face start liking "bouncey ball" as he puts it.

We're coming full circle. Give it 10 years and there won't be an individual that was born as woman out there competing in anything - especially gymnastics.

I enjoy it, my wife and I watch it on Friday nights during the season. It's the Gators and good competition in the SEC. We will certainly try to watch the nationals. Now Lacrosse and competing in the Big East is way out of line and a waste of money.

Ironically, I enjoy watching lacrosse (both my kids played, as did I).

I understand why UF added it as it is growing wildly in Florida (and Georgia), but it is odd to see them in a different conference. But, they gotta spend the T-IX $ somewhere!

Rules are rules...
I don't think I wasn't complaining about a negative rating, it comes with the territory and I'm cool with it; I was pointing out a certain someone's habit of giving a negative rating to anyone who questions him without ever responding or defending his position. Naturally, of course, in this instance he responded....

Nothing against the sport, just a protest against Foley and the anti "arms race" mentality in football. Championships in football will raise more money for Title IX than anything. Gymnastics is a good use of current facilities.

Skillfully worded post. I award you a like.
