Saw this on the way home today and had to turn around and go back for photos. Spectacular spring in KY this year.

Asparagus looks great. I'm afraid your porch is beginning to lean though.

It’s from the weight of all the helicopters landing on it. If you don’t have maple trees then you haven’t had the pleasure of this mess. In a few weeks we will have thousands of maple trees sprouting in the flower beds.

I’ve heard we might not be able to have beef so we are breeding rats.
I think they were considered a delicacy at one point in Vicksburg during the Civil War.

I’m not much of a wine connoisseur, but red meat, red wine :dunno:

I think @NVGator is a wine guy. Maybe he could share some knowledge:)

This is a Mexican rat. We found her on the road. We think she crossed the border illegally but have no proof.

I think a tequila with a scorpion in the bottle would pair better with her than a nice wine.

I’ve had to have conversations with the neighborhood landscaping team that certain shrubs were completely dead. They insisted that despite the dead overall appearance there were still some green shoots. I pulled up a few to show them then acorns at the bottom. They’d just kept trimming them as if the original plant. I never knew how much the oaks just take over. It’s insane.

Maybe the best part of north Florida.

love that smell! We have wild honeysuckle in our back pasture fence row. In some sections it might actually be holding the boards up. That will take over if you let it. My dad has it growing on an arbor and it makes a nice canopy.

Backyard is looking pretty crappy right now. We have been trying to put a pool in since January, but cannot get the place dry enough to dig the hole. Our rainfall is averaging 3-4 “ per week for the last 2 months it seems.
Garden is taking off with a ton of tomato blooms, plus lots of pepper and a few eggplant. I’ll get a better pic of all this tomorrow.
Here’s a pic off the farm from this evening. 6DD3E2F7-13A0-4204-9085-5592B9DF7258.jpeg I’m growing field corn for the first time in 6 years, and I forgot how easy this was compared to soybeans or cotton. The crop has had everything done to it in the way of weed control, and 80% of the fertility. Nothing left to do but keep it irrigated, and soon I’ll fly on the rest of the nitrogen.

@Albert - Too bad you can't plow a straight row. That just amazes me.
Yeah I should work on that. It’s a helluva lot easier than it used to be. Nowadays you only have to pull the first pass straight, then the gps takes over after that. Turns you around on the end, lines back up and away you go.
In the old days you would start by picking out a stationary object at the end of the field and something stationary behind it (not livestock)on the horizon, line those two up and make your first pass. The plow had a long arm attached half its width with a disc blade on the end to make a “mark” the length of the field. Then you lined up on that mark and repeat the process. You had to be extremely disciplined or extremely dumb to be able to get it right all day.
I’m good on getting the first pass pretty straight but I never could keep it going the old way. Now I set the gps AB line pass and try not to fall asleep the rest of the day.

a few photos from around the farm. Decided to stake the pole beans using old gates. It works!
We will have to replant the corn tonight. The cold snap that came through mid-may was bad for what we planted.
