^^^^ Funny you posted one with Emmylou Harris---one of those concerts I worked was Emmylou as the first act, and Elvin Bishop was the main draw afterwards. They actually did a few tunes together as well. She had one heck of a voice, very smooth band behind her as well. Elvin Bishop kicked arse that night. This was during the mid 70's when 'southern rock' was at a peak and everyone who came was expecting Elvin to light it up. He did. This was typical for that night in Pcola....played for hours that night

I can't remember ever hearing Elvin Bishop sing before

I was going to ask you "Haven't you heard Fooled Around and Fell In Love"?
But then... that was Mickey Thomas who sang on that one. (had to look that one up)
So...
yeah, I don't think I've ever heard him sing either.

Boy Thomas had effortless vocal range, I never would have imagined he would wind up with Jefferson Airplane/Starship/Whatever

You pair of rookies...:headbang:

On this one, he sings on the first song and then much later he sings Travelin Shoes. This is a full concert--I just wanted to give another example of Elvin singing. FWIW--I ended up watching most of this and geez--pretty friggin good actually

On this he sings a few songs. Needless to say, he's better known for playing the guitar than for singing. In all fairness his singing style and the songs he does sing on is somewhat suited for his Oklahoma hick voice. The time I saw him, he sang several songs but definitely shined on the guitar. He kept the crowd going and ramped up all night.

Finally, here's a recent(2018) video which I pulled just to see how he's changed. Aged for sure, but same kind of song style.

Cairo Georgia product right there...
He was amazing with Jefferson ....what's funny is when I just googled him, the right side of the page that comes up with the synopsis of him it showed..."Japanese actor".:rotfl: The details were correct about Jefferson Starship, Starship, etc..but by gosh unbeknownst to me, he is a Japanese actor.

I just read the wikipedia account of him....I knew of his being with Elvin Bishop in addition to the Jefferson variations, but had no idea he did some things with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as well as several opening songs/themes in movies--also did some things with Donna Summers and Sammy Hagar. Dude got around.

Of course that isn't surprising with the quality of his voice. It was definitely strong and powerful....he had great control.

She was the queen of disco in the 70's for sure. I can't see how Mickey Thomas would blend with her but I guess he did.

she actually fronted a psychedelic rock band in the late 60's - so she had a varied musical background.
even started a church
