Sorry if MOM
That’s what ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith thinks, at Smith said of Tebow, “let me be the first to say, I don’t give a damn how you feel. I mean what I say. It is white privilege.” He added, “There’s no way to eradicate white privilege without white individuals giving up some of their privilege.”
I’ll be honest, I consider giving up some of my “privilege” just about every Monday as I get up for work. And don’t even get me started on Thursdays or nights like last night where I was consumed by work until after 10pm. But I don’t. As a man, I consider giving up my privilege as a husband just about on a daily basis as temptations present themselves. But I don’t. And as a father, who consistently takes a back seat for my children, I occasionally consider giving up that privilege for a life without taking care of my responsibilities. But I don’t.
In all these cases, there may be a momentary, but fleeting, moment where the narrow path less traveled(that was for you NOLA) seems less attractive and I could just give up and blame everyone else for what my life’s become. I choose not to.
That’s my privilege.
