Wish we had more golf fans here. We have more Hockey threads and Gymnastics threads than PGA. I could make a lot of snide comments but I’ll refrain.

If you’re playing well, play fast. If you’re playing bad, play faster.

So what are your thoughts on the golf course?
I know you live out west have you played TP before?

I’ve played it a bunch of times. The greens aren’t difficult with excessive slope or multiple tiers. Biggest issue is that the Poa Ana grass sometimes doesn’t roll as true as you’d like.

Biggest issue is that the course is looong from the tips. I think even from blue tees there are 7 or 8 par 4s that play 440 or longer. And almost every hole has fairway bunkers in the landing area so if you try and lay back you are looking at 200 yard approach shots. So it’s really about hitting good tee shots if you want any reasonable chance of doing well.

Not as scenic as pebble beach but still very cool views. The cliffs that the course sits on are pretty darn high and it’s quite a view from up there. I’ve always wanted to try one of the gliders that are always cruising on the updrafts from the sea breeze coming up those cliffs.

I hope DeChambeau plays his way into a pairing with Koepka.
That would make for good theater. I’m not a big fan of either, but Koepka, despite a ton of talent, doesn’t seem like somebody I’d care to play alongside nor enjoy a beer or twelve with afterward. If we were re-enacting Caddy Shack, he’d fit in with Judge Smails’ foursome. I detest slow play, but I’d enjoy the hell out of watching him eventually erupt after 6 holes or so of DeChambeau pulling out his sextant and slide rule on each putt.

I'll take Bermuda Greens over that "Floret Broccoli" stuff they call Poa Annua. We fight that weed in our Bermuda every Spring

Mickelson is such a dipshyt. As talented as he is, he still doesn’t have a career Grand Slam. He’s left arguably 2, maybe 3, U.S. Open championships on the course due to his own stupidity, stubbornness and refusal to close the deal unless it’s with his no guts/no glory style down the stretch.

Personally I’d like to see him win it but I don’t know if a title at this tournament, this year or others, is in the cards for him.

Old Mickeldick played himself right out of contention yesterday. Typical US Open performance for Phil.

I suppose one of the 3 guys tied for the lead might go low and take some of the drama out of this, but with 20 players within 5 shots of the lead this might wind up being quite a day out at Torrey Pines.

Man the leaderboard is stacking up with past major champions, 13 guys within 3 shots. Rory, Bryson, Morikawa, Koepka, Rahm all right behind Oosty and the two Cinderellas.

Be pretty fun to see Koepka and DeChambeau tie and have to go to an 18 hole playoff tomorrow.

Of course we won't ever see that again, after the epic playoff between Tiger and Rocco Mediate back in 08. They changed it to a two hole aggregate now, so they'll play 7 and 18 again. If there is still a tie they play sudden death on a loop of 3 holes: 7,8, and 18.

Dang, Bryson misses an ace by an inch on the 8th hole one shot lead over Rory, Morikawa, and Oosty. Here we go.

Look where DeChambeau’s ball landed.

I bet that trash was left there by a Koepka fan.
