A better question: why does he need a visit at all? Much less an official. He’s been here, was committed here at one point, knows the program, etc. That’s a short yes or no phone call.

It’s one of the reasons I can’t get engaged in recruiting like I used to. It doesn’t help that we’re not particularly good at it, and this isn’t some sour grapes excuse. But in any other aspect of the world, this person would be told to pound sand and get lost. In recruiting, grown adults still line up to bend over backwards for him, after having egg on their face several times before. And keep in mind, all this for a kid who at one point couldn’t qualify at Nebraska. It’s ridiculous.
That's why I've never been into recruiting much in the first place. I love college football but don't care to watch the sausage being made, with grownup coaches kissing teenagers' asses and grownup fans obsessing over "insider info" that means NOTHING until those LOI's are signed. Wake me up on Signing Day Eve and let me know who we got.

Some recruitniks take it to a point that it seems like they're more into which players we're signing next then they're into watching our current players play. I think a lot of them have a hobbyist/collector type of mentality.

When I was a kid there a few boys who used to bring shoeboxes full of baseball cards to school in the springtime, and would sit on the ground trading them with each other during after-lunch recess while others of us were playing pickup baseball. I bet those guys grew up to be recruitniks lol

247 Is saying that he did not decommit from us per se. He was not able to get un academically. So he then committed to Nebraska because they said they could get him in. But he was unable to get in there either so he had to go JUCO. But we did not have a slot for him after that so he went to A&M.

Who knows…

Definitely plausible.

I still think it’s a very quick conversation that doesn’t require us to put in valuable time and money so he can go, “oh so this is the stadium, nice, ok cool I’ll get back to you, k bye”.

I do seem to remember him having a kid during his original recruitment last decade. Maybe we’ve got some film on him by now and are laying groundwork there.

200 pounds send him our way.

If he can get up to 235-240, we can move him to DT.

I knew you'd be the first to b*tch about his size. He just finished his junior year of HS, he'll likely play his senior year at 215+ - and you know he won't play at UF as a freshman. I can see him being 225+ before he sees meaningful time. I'll take this type of player any day, and he's ranked top 150.

From 247:

Below is 247Sports player evaluation on James:

40COMMENTS
James has a moldable frame with long limbs and an athletic build. A two-way high school player, James makes some high-level acrobatic plays as a wide receiver and wildcat quarterback on offense. At linebacker, James is a natural playmaker with elite closing ability and power upon contact. He's extremely active and sniffs out plays before they happen with outstanding instincts. Possesses a great motor and tenacity to get to the action. Able to get around blocks with fluid agility and quickness in tight spaces. Accelerates to the ball and doesn't wait for the play to come to him. Has the desired urgency and suddenness to beat blockers to the spot. Shows strength and power when he needs it. Very adept in coverage and takes excellent zone drops and angles. Very versatile in the way he can affect the line of scrimmage and get in the backfield on blitzes but also drop into coverage like a defensive back. Times his blitzes well and can shoot the A-gap. Accelerates from sideline to sideline.

247Sports currently ranks James as the Nation's No. 118 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 12 linebacker in the 2022 class.

Hell it beats nothing.

I'd prefer Florida players but we spend all our time in Georgia, Mississippi and Texas so I guess we just get what we get.

Alabama was going after this kid pretty hard. And unlike most of the kids we pretend that Bama and other top teams want, I think he actually had committable offers. So it’s nice to actually get a guy that’s wanted by others. But with Bama and Auburn in state I’m not counting his commitment until he signs.

I realize that since my post didn’t denigrate CDM in some way that it triggered you. Mea culpa. In the hopes this helps, Mullinz, his laziness, his $hetty recruiting skills, and his sideways offense all suck. Better?

I’ve wondered the same things about donkey. It’s like he doesn’t even read the messages. Just skims to the section where you’re blasting Mullen. And if not, you must be a Mullen pumper.
Hold on, first let me get this out of the way:

Happy Father's Day to Dorky Dan, the living, losing embodiment of a "dumb awkward dad" joke!

:suspect:

Okay, the coast is clear. Donkey has scrolled by so we can talk about him.

Yes, you all nailed it. Donk's criteria for a pro-Mullen post is any post that doesn't sufficiently bash Mullen. He also can't tolerate any sharing of blame -- if anyone mentions any issue with the team other than Mullinz, they're making excuses for Mullinz. :lol2:

It's pretty pathological. Like, I don't like Mullen either, for one of the main reasons Donk doesn't -- he's Dorky Dan! The whole way he carries himself is awkward and weird in a way that I know is off-putting to a lot of recruits. Coaches need to be either highly respectable or highly relatable, and Cousin Eddie is neither. The whole demeanor of the guy has always grated on my nerves, since he was our OC. I've made this pretty clear by now.

And yet if I am in favor of expanding the playoffs (which I am, for reasons unrelated to Cousin E or UF at all), according to Bonkers Donkers it must be because I'm making excuses for Mullinz or trying to make it easier for him or something. It has to have something to do with Mullen. Everything does!

Uh oh, here he comes again.

Dumbazz Bianchi is soft for Dorky Dancing Vacationing Dan the Builder! He says if Dan wants to prove he's worth his $8 million salary, he needs to beat Alabama in Week 3. So, if Bama randomly implodes and Dan steals a win, that means he IS worth his $8 million salary?? :bwahaha:

:ugh:

Ahh, there he goes. That was a close one! :whew:

I know nothing about She-Mar Jones (wish his name was He-Mar), but given our staffs general overall inability to develop talent, I am always a bit leery of any defensive player who chooses UF from the state of Alabama who holds a committable offer from Bama. If he just wants to go elsewhere fine, but somehow I have to lean to the side that Saban says no and that is what sends this kid out of state. See Moon, Jeremiah.
