Perspective is a difficult thing to aspire to. It comes with experience. When all you really know is SOS history its hard to understand. ButI get it. I really do.
My Gator memories go back to the DD era and the just wait til next year mantra, Sic Em Charlie, Give Em Hell, Pell, etc.

I see Brian Johnson as possibly our Ryan Day or Lincoln Riley. Obviously a bigger reach than those guys but the continuity of our system here , I feel like he was the catalyst for one of the best offenses we've had here and most importantly I'm a big fan of having a solid qb coach / oc as head coach.

Difference being, Lincoln Riley and Day were both handed the keys to a Lamborghini.
Neither one of those guys built a damn thing.

The similarities of those two programs are amazing actually.

Both have benefited from amazing QB transfers and both have benefitted from playing in relatively weak conferences where going undefeated or losing one game is the norm.

I’m not impressed at all with their coaching abilities.
What I see from both are amazing
recruiting abilities and enough coaching acumen to keep those programs on cruise control, with top 5 talent.

I’m not sure if either coach could build a program back from the doldrums we find ourselves in.

I’m looking for a coach that can build us back with strong top 5 recruiting and instill confidence, fundamentals and top 5 coaching abilities.

I like up and coming coaches that need a destination, like Our University, to shine.
A guy that can take lesser talent and make a name for the himself.

There is a head coach that has a team in the top ten right now, that’s NOT in a major conference or traditional power house program.

you mean the guy that was 6-7 the last time he was in the power five and lost to Chimp? championship the year before he was hired and who was a national championship caliber team the next year too?

Another ****ty defense coordinator? not even elite defensive coordinator this time. Who prefers ball control offense? who has zero recruiting tie to Fla and southeast?

That guy? He is like a Zook who talks a bit slower.

Good grief,
He was interim head coach, then only had one year at the helm of OSU.
Yes, he lost to the Zooker in a bowl game.

That was 2011
Im thinking he’s grown just a tad, since 2011.
Has Dan?

Whatever, head coaching preferences run the gamut. Everyone has their own opinions and , any coach would immediately be met with outrage by the Gator faithful.

Hell….
I could jump on the Lane train too.

I would think, we wouldn’t even consider a coach without head coaching experience though.

well the Lane train objectively makes the most sense if it weren't for the fact that it is Lane himself is an aids-ridden crack whore.

that's how you end up with known losers like McElstain and Mullinz

okay if you hire an ACC champion or a guy with championships in his last two conferences I'm in.

that's not the four and five loss guys in their best seasons that we hire now.

It is a long reach, I know. Odd are far against it working out.

However, I was more impressed with the much more complex pass routes that BJ added to the playbook. That wasnt Millinz. We know what Millinz is.

Plus BJ was one of our better recruiters and allegedly held the team together who were leaning toward mutinying Mullinz.

When it was clearly Johnson, he was really, really bad as an OC. .
Calling plays for another sad sack of shytt HC, Major Applewhite, the guy that Chimp or Butters both coveted as their own OC.

Look I'd rather have a guy who won surprise championships with so so rosters in the USFL and the ACC or the guy who built a Mac team into a undefeated champion in 2 years and a WAC team into an undefeated champion in 2 years.... but those guys arent available.

mario cristobal 1, kiffin (god i cant believe im to this point) 2.

1 year playcalling by someone who only called some plays and had heisman talent at the qb and receiver positions doesnt do much for me.

Are we talking about a whole season or just the first 6 games?

Look, bottom line, $6 mil coaching jobs aren’t in the purview of either of us. There are guys that could handle things better. But the whole of Gville needs a serious bath of “everything’s ok” mindset. See our world famous pe teacher for prime example. It will never produce anything but frustration.

The goals for UF’s athletic program are different now. Championships are way too much trouble

I am just wondering how much longer it will take before the alleged Bull Gators care enough to figure it out and stop supporting our mediocre program

I could get behind these two as well.
After what Cristobal has done at Oregon, to me, that’s a home run hire.
I see that hire as unrealistic .

Hell, I think it would be a stretch to convince Kiffin to leave Ol Miss.

i think youre suffering from foley-strickholm syndrome and have forgotten we are swimming with money. We get rid of the dead weight in the front office as well as on the football staff, bring in an AD thats interested in winning and we can woo nearly anyone we want. Both of those would come in an instant if we had a good AD that was willing to pay and make commitments to upgrade our prisonesque training and living quarters.

Both of those guys want to be in the SEC, both want to be in a hotbed area of talent and on a traditional contender. Both are florida guys through and through and while maybe not UF guys, UF is the flagship school, in florida surrounded by blue chip talent, at a program full of passion, tradition, and championships from multiple generations and coaches to point to.

It would happen if we were serious about getting back to winning.

As long as the conversation starts with an O minded head coach that can recruit.
Not a fan of taking a chance on a coordinator with no head coaching experience. Not at Florida.
Ideally someone, who like SOS and Meyer, made lesser teams demonstrably better. But that's rare.
Also I'd like to see a history of not being afraid to fire dead weight.

id take a chance on a hotshot o coordinator known for being able to croot... if that was all that was available. but when you have multiple dudes out there with that on their resume, plus successful HC experience to boot, it takes the coordinators off the table for me.
