I attended my first UF home game in 13 years yesterday. We pre-game'd at a Bull Gator's "compound" a few blocks from the stadium and @CGgater came by. We're both now retired Coasties and had never met in person. I'm the younger, more handsome one in the shades.... 20210918_125933.jpg

Really great time yesterday getting to meet BMF in person after many retorts back and forth, starting way back before Ox inspired the mass exodus from the old board! Fellow Gator Coasties, hard NOT to find common ground to bs about for a couple of hours. My only regret is we didn’t get a chance to discuss some coaching change proposals with our gracious Bull Gator host.

Whenever I think of the CG, I think of Billy Flores and the Blackthorn in Tampa Bay in January, 1980 and the heroism amongst tragedy, a tragedy that was completely and unfortunately overshadowed by the collapse of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge less than five months later.

I believe it was the largest death toll in peacetime the CG had. Not sure on that one.

Things I remember growing up in the TB area, and events that stick with you 40+ years later.

I PM’d @BMF to tell him I thought his thread title could have been a little more original and to congratulate him on the meet up. What a cool opportunity. He replied it was quite boring and a waste of his time. Take it with a grain of salt.

Well, I'm definitely one of the most boring posters here, so I'm not surprised to hear that. The big shocker was that he didn't ditch me within 15 minutes to escape the snoozfest I created!

After the game, the Bull Gator host had several pizzas, all sorts of other appetizers, the left over BBQ (which wasn't even half eaten before the game), the four coolers full of beer, and a full bar! We hung out for about 2 hours after the game then headed back to Jax. Great seeing you yesterday!

Good thing you didn’t invite @CGgater for the after party. I mean he doesn’t even know how to spell Gator. I’m sure that was an awkward conversation.

Didn't a few members do a tailgate together a few years ago? I think Ox sponsored the whole thing, quite a spread, he put a bunch of Oxbucks into it.

Were you top, bottom, or both?
