Great version... almost gospel like near the end.

BTW - several posts up is from MuddyChewers.
Who is that?

@oxrageous who is muddychewers? Some body that changed their name?

I was there. Never forgive LSU for their band's behavior that day.

Petty hated Gainesville. Couldn't wait to get out of there and away from all the hicks. Prolly rolling over in his grave every time they play "Don't Back Down" at games.

A good way to conceptualize four dimensional space is to imagine that everyone you've known who claims to have been Tom Petty's next door neighbor when he was a kid is telling the truth.

Amen! I grew up in Tallahassee. I got out of there as soon as I could.
I will say that the areas surrounding Tally were fun though...
Wakulla Springs, Quincy, lots of lakes (Taquin, Jackson, Carr, etc) and the Appalachicola National forest.

I was at the 2006 Odome concert. It was great because they took their time, had everything perfect for the dvd recording.

He took it a little further. They use to have Dewer's(?) ads in Playboy that highlighted famous people with a bio. Petty listed his hobby as "Denying Gainesville roots".

Speaking of:
There use to be a little pool/beer/foos ball joint near the SE corner of 13th and 16th. Not too far from our favorite Joe's Deli. We're in there one night (1978 I guess) playing foosball against some randos when a Petty song comes on. Petty hadn't broken big yet. We knew of him but he wasn't Van Halen so he might as well have been Seals & Crofts to us.
So the song starts and the rando says 'Hey, hold on, That's my brother on the radio."
We were like "Cool, now drop the ball".
Don't know if it was his brother but kudos to him for jumping on the Petty train early.
