The reality is I just don't know much about him.

But when I look at him, I don't see a great offense that destroys the other team's will (SOS), a never quit CEO champion and history's best ST coordinator (CUM), or well... anything. Just decent... decentish....recruiter.

Dabo is Dabo because Clemson spent all their $150 million/year of football money ON FOOTBALL.
They have made hundreds of millions in improvements and to give him absolutely every possible advantage.

Before the $$$$ and staff, Dabo was SOS's bytch who was happy to qualify for a bowl. Just like before the Trailerbammer $$$$$, Saban was mostly 8-4 or 7-5.

Making those comparisons to UF mean absolutely nothing.

Dabo would fail miserably here.

LSU, ATM, Texas, OSU.... not many more.

There are teams who have made 3 or 4x the upgrades we have, but not on the level of those teams.

As I’ve stated, he doesn’t have thick enough skin to handle this job, very much like his two immediate predecessors. To be clear, it’s not a job for everyone. And I do think he initially tried and wanted to do great things here. But between some bad gambles on personnel, some poor choices that haunt him at QB, and the ego that can’t handle the criticism, he’s done.

Just look at the timeouts we used against Vanderbilt with like :20 left in Q2, inside our own 5, while they had the ball. That, and his fire along the sidelines, was a direct result of his being ripped a week earlier for the way we ended the half. You think he’s not reading this stuff, here or elsewhere? No chance. Spurrier didn’t need to. Meyer didn’t care to. He can’t handle knowing that we don’t think he’s making the wise or right decisions.

Sucks because I actually kinda liked him in his first year. He made games much more enjoyable. But as I’ve said, there is no 9-3 cruise control, “Richting”, etc. at UF. It catches up to you way too fast.

His biggest problem is lack of preparation. Much of recruiting is just outworking the other teams. He is a bottom 2%-er and is openly mocked for it. Preparation for games is again just burning the midnight oil. He's on vacation instead of preparing for a bowl game. And apparently about half the games.

Add in his conservative streak and just general lack of killer instinct, he literally has almost no redeeming traits beyond half time adjustments and the occasional gadget play.

However you can't live on gadget plays. His base offense just sucks, it always has and he is apparently incapable of seeing it. He has surround himself with bootlickers who won't tell him, beyond Brian Johnson and he is gone.

Good coordinators can mold good but not great players into a great offense. He needs a once in a decade guy to even manage to score points.

There never was any chance he was going to be elite.

He is barely mediocre.

I like him from what I’ve seen. I think he would need a strong OC. He’s more than a decent recruiter. Former Recruiter of the Year. I think he would get Florida kids to stay home.

Call me crazy but I like Kiffen also. I’m not holding Fickell’s interim gig against him too much. I like what he’s doing at Cincy.

I’m looking at the guy from Coastal Carolina that some have mentioned. He seems intriguing.

I’m still looking around. I’ll let Strick know what I find.

Gundy is a passing Mullen with worse hair. He’s comfortable and wealthy and would do the same thing here. We’d be trading wake surfing for catfish noodling.

I feel like Fuchs and Co would be immediately drawn to this Dykes person though.

My concern with him is the same I had with Mullen. You are at a middle-lower tier school, a total little brother, and enter every season knowing full well you’re losing 2-3 games because of better overall programs in your conference. No great coach could stand that for a decade plus. I get that he’s an alum, but anyone who sticks around that long under those circumstances has shown that they like coaching, enjoy grooming players and calling games, but aren’t insistent on being the best. Add in the fact that he’s another 45-55 year old who’s already ultra rich, and I think we’d see the same thing here. To me, he’d watch guys like NS, KS, and potentially whoever LSU hires run circles around him in recruiting and not care.

Yup. By staying at a place like that. Or taking a job at Purdue. It shows you just don't care that much about winning.

Hard pass.

And I've always liked this guy but he doesn't have it and if he came here it would just be a for a pay day.
