You’re talking about a vaccine that’s been around for decades abs decades. No school or employer has ever required a flu vaccine. None.

The debate could go on forever. Vax, not vax, people without it dying, people with the vax dying and so on. Being a paramedic also and being on deployment fighting this I have seen wayyyy too much. Him getting canned is a bit too much. People should have the choice period, whether good or bad.

When I was 18 I got a job with the USDA, they made me get vaccinated for rabies. I still have no idea why. Honestly probably the only reason I agreed to it was I knew me and my buddies would get a good laugh out of it.

Actions and choices have consequences. It is admirable for him to step up and accept those for his beliefs versus go running to whatever attorney he can find.

He can (and should) do both. In my mind, this entire vax mandate fiasco needs to get infront of this Supreme Court asap. This government/corporate hydra is definitionally fascistic and is going to have to be delt with definitively because the powers in charge don’t care about public health (see ignoring natural immunity) the only care about control and compliance.

A friend of mine got the vaccine and a week later came down with full blown diabetes. Shorty after that he got a very serious blood infection that put him in the hospital. He survived.

UPDATE: He is back in the hospital....

My employer not only requires a Covid vaccine now, but has also made the flu shot mandatory. In the past the flu vaccine was optional but if you opted out, get this...you had to wear a mask for the entire flu season. Now you have to have both and still have to wear a damn mask.

Actions and choices have consequences.

This statement is more relevant when talking about poor choices, like wasteful credit card spending or committing a crime. Accepting/declining a vaccine (personal health choices) is a piss poor application of your statement.

If you’re okay with the government regulating your health, I guess you won’t mind if we bring back prohibition and ban smoking while we’re at it? Maybe they say meat is evil and we’re forced into a vegetarian diet( they’re already trying to move in that direction, btw).

Also, “take the vax or you can’t participate in society” is not a choice, it’s extortion.

If we were seeing a 25% or higher mortality rate, I could understand the government wanting to push this “for the good of the many.” Last I checked, we’re still under 0.5% and most of those stats involve the elderly (80+) and the unhealthy, especially the morbidly obese.

I know that can sound cold to those who lost a loved one, but there have been many other issues overlooked (increasing alcoholism, depression, abuse, suicide, etc) due to our hyper-focus on this one virus, as if all other diseases and problems just disappeared when covid hit.

And what happens when the Supreme court rules in favor of the University? I don't buy the conspiracy laced "government trying to control us" tinged argument. There is enough evidence out there that while being vaxxed doesn't prevent you from getting it, it does protect you from death and hospital stays. Meaning its not a completely black/white thing. Yes I do understand people are hesitant to get it and "forcing" anyone to do anything is always a last resort type thing. I don't think we are there and I am muted on mandates. I think perhaps a better solution would be for organizations to adjust insurance premiums for those who are not vaxed to a higher rate to better reflect the real costs that these individuals incur with higher hospitalizations rates.

From what I recall in the old days there wasn't any anti vax sentiment - we went to the doctor and he shot us in the arm with an air gun with measles, mumps, rubella, small pox, etc. People believed what the doctors told them and didn't have a bunch of bull shiz google info to misinform them. A billion people have had some form of this vaccine and they haven't grown horns and the multitude of nurses I know say almost all of the dying are un-vaccinated. Poo Poo me all you want, the anti-vax thought process is illogical. It's your choice not to get it but when you die and leave your wife with 4 kids behind who is going to take care of them...

It's your choice not to get it

Is it, really?

My employer and my former employer are requiring it - it is now mandatory for all 18,000 of us.
I got the Pfizer so I'm not worried about it, but there are some folks who aren't pleased.
So ...it's really not their choice, unless they want to find a new job.

That's the choice - keep your job or leave. If you really are committed to not getting it you quit/get fired like Washington State's coach.

I have a right to decide whether that supposed layer of protection is right for me based on my risk factors. Yeah and forcing anyone to do anything is a last resort...like you might have to go to war with your own people, fire good medical personnel, people that serve the country and may be irreplaceable.
