he is literally on a show cause order from the NCAA.
but the time to fire for cause has passed, right? At this moment they cannot fire for that and if they did would still be liable to pay the buyout.
And make no mistake about it the reason Butters was fired is because he wasn't building a champion. You can be eccentric and an ******* all you want as long as you're a champion.
I do not believe that. When he came with the death threats he sealed his fate. At that point his win/loss record didn't matter.

He was already being fire before the death threats, the death threats reduced the payout and made it immediate. He put the nail in his coffin with his public comments about the support of the University. New leadership comes in, signs off on your extension, then you openly question their commitment a month and a half later.

I Watched Mullen's press conference yesterday. He looked relaxed like a burden was lifted of his shoulders. Someone said it was because he'd finally fired TG and Hev. I think it's because he was told he was done at the end of the year.
I do not see how dismissing those two could have been a burden unless he is a terribly small-minded leader. They had to go. Is he just now realizing his assistant HC is a moron that turns off recruits and families?

I think he was told he is safe as long as he makes changes. Might they fire him? Yes. I will say it is 50/50 he's gone end of season. We might not be able to afford to fire him and the Administration may not want to conduct a coaching search. Do we want Mullen's Miss St hee haw buddy to find our next coach? Imagine if he finishes with 7 losses. What if the fool loses to fsu? And he was the guy that was hired to restore the UF brand.

You think there is a 6 month statute of limitations?

Or it is waived bc the AD failed to act?

How did that work for the girls Bounceyball coach? Did it save him from being fired for cause?

Boom.

Excellent observation.

Does he look like a guy who has to figure out how to find a defensive staff and put a functional defense on the field?

Or a guy who needs to figure out how to actually score points and win games?

Or a guy who has Knox as ST coach?

Or a guy who needs to somehow receuit top 3-4 classes?

No he looks totally relaxed, like he is getting ready for a 1-2 year vacay he deserves like the multimillionaire he is.

By year 4 SOS had three SEC trophies and would soon win two more and go to the NCG game twice winning one. We had All Americans all over the field on both sides of the ball.

By year 4 CUM had won 2 SEC and 2 Ncs, had All Americans everywhere and had literally redefined what an elite recruiting class looked like.

They could say ANY damn thing they wanted in pressers or even have players shooting people in the face outside a Hoggetowne club.

Yes, lack of winning and elite recruiting is exactly what got Butters fired.

Yeah I'd bet the contract negotiations have already took place and he now knows what he'll be walking away with.

Not that it means anything but the ESPN guys on the Sunday morning football show said as much. They said they didn't really have any inside info but both said they knew enough about how Stricklin operates to give their prediction. They said he was savvy enough to probably already have Mullen's buyout locked up and was already looking for the next coach. Most likely wouldn't even announce Mullen was out until after the season to try and keep everything as calm as possible unless Mullen made as ass of himself which they both agreed was also very likely. They had me all the way until they started bragging about Stricklin, them saying that made me seriously doubt they had the slightest clue but we'll know soon enough.

Bounceyball was abusive. No option there. Mullen is a moron but a moron with a large buyout.

I can't get past our AD throwing money at mullen. They should both be fired.

Based on Butters?

Yeah, I agree with you.

But SS HAS to be feeling the heat. His as is probably more nuclear than Mullinz.

He may act faster and try to fix things. Or he may lockup under pressure and do nothing and leave it for the next AD. We will see.

The point is the AD knew about it last year, did nothing and in fact gave a raise and extension.

More precisely the point is that the AD not acting in cause for firing doesnt mean the ability to act on the misconduct is waived forever. We can certainly add NCAA sanctions to Mullinz for cause firing list.

So, was there speculation the team took two flights because there is a support division among the team, or is that unsupported?

Actually, he only loosened up after he thought he was done with the coaching questions... watch the beginning again and listen to his voice. His voice is clearly constricted due to "fight or flight" adrenaline. Also, watch the part again where he is asked about "coaches talk about having a rolodex of 'go to' replacements for coaches, have you started looking for permanent replacements..." He is completely caught off guard, his body language shows it clearly. He gives a BS answer about not starting yet. I took THAT answer as the "tell" that he is not involved in any search for a new DC and that might be the indication that he's out... it's that or "recruiting" new coaches is not a priority for him right now... maybe it's because it's not "recruiting season" and he'll get to that after the season season. ;)

That's interesting.

There were several times, especially at the beginning, where he just seemed uncomfortable... that question caused him to physically recoil/pull back from the podium. Words and body language matter.
That's all true. On one hand I find it hard to believe they let him go and pay the loser all that money, considering he was hired and brought here specifically to rebuild the UF brand. He succeeded in making it worse than butternuts. But OTOH, I imagine those above him have determined he's incapable of restoring the program. What an abject failure to have reduced our team to less than he inherited. It's funny as well because his early defenders on other boards screamed how he inherited a broken program.

Another article GatorsTerritory - Dan Mullen explains parting of ways with Hevesy, Grantham
"My responsibility as the head coach is to do what's best, what I feel is best for the Florida Gators. And that comes above it all," Mullen said Monday. "It was obviously a really tough decision to make. It was something that was weighing on me. It was something that I was looking and saying, 'Hey, there's, I'm probably going to make changes at the end of the season,' and I thought for the health of the program, for the health of everybody, you know you're going to do it, let's make that move now and get us headed in the direction we're going into it in the future."
Yes arsehold, you are supposed to do this when you take over the program, not when you- out of your own laziness and insecurity- have let the program and brand slide to a unprecedentedly low state.

Didn't you set goals for your assistant coaches and then inspect what you expected them to do?

Yeah, I'm not sure of his status, but it was clear from his answer that regardless of his long term status, no, he's made no effort yet regarding any coaching replacements.
