Was there a real discussion as to why we replaced the two secondary coaches? Are the two an upgrade or were the two let-go sacrificial to appear we were fixing the problem?

They were the Round One scapegoats.

Hevesy and Toad are the Round Two scapegoats.

I’m wondering how many rounds there will be before UF decides to address the real problem.

Who wants to put up with an arrogant lazy ass coach who has checked out and lost his team? Nobody in their right mind, thats who.

Agree completely

I think the dumbest comment I have heard from a media guy so far is this ……….” The fact that UF is not actively pursuing replacement coaches, choosing instead to promote from within on an interim basis, is a sign that UF is going to fire Mullen at seasons end.”

As if to suggest that UF would be poaching coordinators from other teams in the middle of the season.
Can anyone get a job in journalism now?

Are you licking your lips for more backups from Barn and Pedo State?
He is going to have to work that portal like it's never been worked this year! I just don't think with him being on the HOT seat and lack of a Dc or OL coach, that he'll be 1) able to pull in anyone for those jobs that's going to make any difference and 2) is going to find enough players in our lack of recruiting or from the transfer portal that are willing to pull the trigger on coming to play for U.F. when there is so much uncertainty surrounding the program and it's staff! I just don't see the amount of players in the portal or on the recruiting boards that are going to make up for our lack of keeping our foot on the pedal for recruits!! But I unfortunately can see the wheels coming off even further for our players and some of them seeing the writing on the wall and hitting the portal in hopes of greener pastures somewhere else.. I really hope we can stop any mass player bail out but at this point in time it is really hard to say what will happen IMO.

While I somewhat agree but times are a changing. Georgia Southern and Texas Tech hired new head coaches in the past week or so. Texas Techs new head coach was coaching at Baylor before the move. Also a lot of smoke SMUs head coach may be at TCU by seasons end.

I think Florida hired in house because it was simpler and because they want the new head coach to make the new hires. You'll never convince me Mullen fired Hevesy and Grantham, that come from above him.

Wow I hadn't thought about that! Them keeping it within the ranks due to all being fired at years end and making way for a whole new staff to come in. That would be great or atleast good

You are agreeing with me.

My point was that the fact that we named interims from within the staff has absolutely no bearing on the ultimate decision on Mullen and for the media to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Yeah, seemed pretty obvious to me... that the jury is still out.

Exactly. Maybe a Saban or a HC that had not spent his previous 12 seasons cultivating a staff from the weakest possible yes men. Smilen dan has nothing to offer. Most assistants are making good money already. We do not pay that well, or better. Aside from the fact your future is uncertain, at your next interview you have to answer the question "why did you go work for dan mullenz?"

That stupid smirk when he said "this is florida" as if assistants would be willing to hitch a ride on his titanic.

We know grantham should have never been hired. We know mullen should have fired him last year. But mullen had to know grantham was being abusive. Maybe mullen really is just a chicken sheet.

Obviously not. It was about how many of our players are going to jump ship and leave mullenz high and dry, desperate and looking like the fool he is. Thanks to his genius work with the transfer portal we had supposedly built a top 10 roster. So which is it, the roster strength a colossal miscalculation or mullen and his staff are incredibly inept? If I recruit against mullen I show a recruit that the roster is highly talented according to experts but his team is well out of the top 25- far far out of the top 25. "Do you want to play there?" We are ruined for the foreseeable future.

I do not believe that filling holes from within is proof he's fired end of season. It could be true, but on its own is not proof. If recruiting has to wait until end of season so would finding assistants. He cannot multi task.

Case in point, Gerald Mincey just tweeted a smiley face on the news of Hevesy. I don’t think this staff was popular at all, even with the kids they did land. Even wholesale changes likely won’t cause a disastrous exodus. And again, with the right hire, it’s as much inbound as well.
I believe you. Just as we read grantham has been difficult all season and only just now fired does this not prove how tone deaf mullen is?

Could his boss not have known how dysfunctional the program has become? Was Stricklin relying on bi weekly updates from mullen to gauge the state of the program?

You do not need to be in management or understand management principles to see something has been amiss for a long time. We all knew it. We all could see this coming. Nobody has confidence in mullen, nobody. But now it would seem his boss is also part of why we got here.
