The question is how much? If it’s reasonable I’m fine with the chance. If he does what he needs to make it exciting and beat some good teams sometimes I’m ok with the hire.

If he’s going to be lazy and take the easy way out, move along.
He's not going to be lazy. Neither was Chump. But he is bringing a crap offense and he appears to lack the grey matter to develop a dynamic creative offense that is the only pathway to competing for championships in today's game. He also shows poor insight by the fact that he act's as his own OC even though his offenses suck. At least if he was the hardass CEO who recognizes his own limitations so delegates to smarter minds while he focuses on the big picture I would feel more hopeful. As it is, he looks like a Mizzou level hire with a Tennessee level brain which means we struck out again.

Which is the problem.... he is safe. Mullen was safe. Zook was supposed to be safe.... etc... where does safe get you.
To this point in time, not much at all. But apparently, he's not a lazy, self-enamored little doosh monkey who talks the jive but cant' bring himself to do the real work of building a program.

Doering was just on a podcast doing an interview and said neither Kiffen or Freeze is likely because Scotty has aversions to their “character issues”.

I’d guess the list looks something like this now:

Napier, Fickell, Campbell, Clausen.

Stoops and Cristobal would be the swing for the fences choices.

Aranda seems to LSU’s focus atm. Napier is their number three.
Pot meet kettle on the character issues

Are you effing serious with this answer?
Do you honestly think Billy can compete for 4 and 5 star talent against Bama, Ga, Clemson and other power 5 schools?

Even if we just narrowed it down to Florida.

Do you honestly equate his “Number 1” recruiting classes in the Sunbelt to what he “could” do here?

YES.

I think he develops relationships with high schools and completely busts his ass on the trail. We could also dip into a lot of Louisiana talent with all his connections there.

You know Sling Blade doesn't seem all that bad anymore after you start seeing names like Campbell, Clausen and Mark Stoops come up multiple times.

I'm kinda on your side (I think) but what your saying makes zero sense. Of course you've gotta compare him to his current peers. If he's dominating any area in his current conference you gotta think he'd do really well in that same area in another conference when he's on the same level as his peers again.

everybody wants the next Urban and I get that, but how many top 10./20/30 classes did Urban have at Utah or Bowling Green.

This Napier guy could be the next big thing or he could bust, but if he is at least as good as the last guy, he will be a lot more tolerable than that arrogant prick.

With the way Stricklin worded his remarks along with the fact that Napier turned down other SEC jobs because the school didnt want to do the things needed to build a program, its THE main thing that makes Napier appealing for the job. It is the tell that the UAA has finally seen the light.

Well, If he’s our coach, I sure as hell hope so.
I’m sceptical, very much so.

He’s a nobody, he has no connections in Florida, has not proven himself capable of winning on a big stage.

To me, not worthy.
Not even close.

You forgot to mention at the end there that he should be assassinated in front of his family.

I get a lot of you guys don't like the hire, but the over-the-top hatred has surprised even me.

If given all and I mean ALL the tools from the Administration that Napier would need to compete, it appears that his work ethic is way better than DM. With those things he could be very successful.
