The administration fuched this up, but keeping Mullen wavering since UGA.... We knew what needed to happen, and Stricklin didn't have the balls to do it. This class was screwed by the managements inability to make that hard decision everybody knew had to happen except the deepest of the mullenites. This is what is what worries me about the next hire, if this admin is too scared to do what is right when it needed to be done for years what else are they willing to except. Stricklin has set his cash cow back years, unless he absolutely gets a hire I don't know that's out there. We all knew he was going to crash and burn, the job of the management is to see it and cut bait before it happens.

How many times did we hear that we should win the final 4 games and that might save him for another year? I don't think they envisioned the implosion and were caught flat footed. For that matter most of us here didn't think it was definitely this season until halfway through Usce. I'd always felt like he got 2022 until that night. But yes, I agree that they mismanaged things in large part. I do, however, think that the decision yesterday was certainly better than next Sunday. If there was any chance of us rallying for fsu, he had to be gone. And now we don't have to worry that a win actually hurts us by granting him another season. But I honestly feel like this was always going to be a really tough transition class because of what we actually had(or didn't have) and how shaky things were with several commits. The right hire will correct it to the best of his ability and we move on. This is where the portal becomes our friend. If we can keep Evers, get some momentum in the portal and start work on a solid bump class, things get corrected fairly quickly in my view.

Sofla, I do believe if we would have beaten both Mizzou and FSU he would be our coach next year.... Which is the issue. If we won all four without a doubt he would be back. The fact the USCe happened, nothing. The Samford happened, nothing...

Honestly the writing was on the wall this season after the back to back of KY and the under manned LSU loses. How do you face your fanbase and management, after the head coach of another top 5 program gets axed right after they beat you for the second time with under the minimum number of scholarship athletes.

I still think he was gone after Uk. The party was over that night. The only question was whether or not he was kicked out before next season. Honestly, I don't care that much about when an announcement was made. My greater concern was the time window from that one to the the one introducing the next guy. I truly believe DM knew and had been all but told that he was gone, which was evident in his demeanor. If we can land who we want by Sunday, I think we're good. But I think the search had begun and was pretty far along before Mizzou kicked off.

I think it was before basically made before Mizzou.. I do think that the Stricklin was looking for reasons to keep him. And I do believe the post game at Mizzou showed Mullen as a guy who knew he was done. I don't believe we really started looking before hand, it would have been better if we treated it like LSU did.

I kinda of agree with what Tijuana was saying a few weeks ago, they should have made him finish the season, because this schit storm is on him and his recruiting. He deserves every L.

We were guaranteed to lose if he coaches fsu. This isn’t Zook here. He would’ve mailed it in as he had. We have a chance now. I don’t want to give him one final L so badly that I’ll tank against the noles. Letting him get embarrassed and trolled by Eli, but still having a chance to win Saturday is the best scenario we could’ve asked for.

This class was a fuchsing disaster if Mullens stayed. At least we don't get TWO disastrous classes.

Probably best to save the seats and shoot for a huge class next year with EE countbacks and Jucos or transfers.

@onlygators: Four-star 2022 DL Chris McClellan has committed to the Florida #Gators despite the firing of Dan Mullen.

McClellan is the No. 101 prospect in the class.

Turner and McGee recruited him. Wonder how much retaining them matter with his commitment.

I doubt anyone gets retained (maybe Brewster), but it does allow these guys to show that they didn't quit (to impress their new potential employer). It's not unusual to see one or two retained, but neither Turner or McGee seem like logical choices, imo.

I think Brewer or Gonzales would be the guy to keep and most new coaches do keep one.
