This may have been posted somewhere in this thread. But, Thomas Goldkamp reported that Stricklin vetted Kiffin and was scared off by some things at Ole Miss. So, he is not even under consideration any more.
“Kiffin started over by pairing up with Saban, first in an observing role that December and soon after as Alabama's offensive coordinator.

For a coach whose path had been a whirlwind of turbulent climbing, this was a much different opportunity.

"You go back to being an assistant learning from the best that has ever coached," Kiffin says. "That kind of move will humble you. Knock down your ego. It certainly did for me."

The goal was to relearn what it took to run a football program, with the hope that another opportunity would eventually surface.

He also knew that if he was given another chance to lead, he would treat the people around him better. He would view program success differently—not just through the lens of wins and losses.

This was his coffee-bean moment.”

Google some of this and it will take to the full article about Saban’s impact on a more mature Lane Kiffin. You got a link to the Goldkamp statement?

Hmmm.

1. Kiffen is in a box this year. He can't go to SoCal, I would guess. LSU is likely to be concerned about him because Orgeron is out partly for being off the rails from time to time. So that leave him with UF or staying at Mississippi unless Miami comes open.

2.That recruiting site video was so so sad, they can not even talk about a coaching search without spending most of the time talking about recruiting and then their top candidate is a suspect coach with a recruiting rep. We know you sell recruiting. We know your site would not exist without interest in recruiting. We are interested in recruiting. But we want UF to win, we want the right head coach and recruiting is a significant but probably less than 50% fraction of that.

3. The other site lists 5 coaches and to them there is no A hire this year. Well there most certainly is an A hire ex-post (the you go running Gator), he just needs to be identified.

4. Speaking of running gator, I am always a bit suspicious of people who confuse arithmetic, ie adding up someone age, with math.

Here’s some “good advise”: it’s probably a good idea to proofread a post bragging about how smart you are. Maybe consider returning at least one of your PhDs?
Incorrect... I have $100 that says he was doing the douchey British affectation thing... to let us know how culturally refined he is (and we aren't).

that's because you don't work with academics ;)
I have and I have seen numerous mathematicians who lacked common sense and psychologists who entered the field to try to understand their own peculiarities. However, the ignorance and misinformation exhibited by RG was of a different sort. It was either a deliberate hoax or a young person lacking in education and knowledge pretending to be something else.

Statistically the team with the most talent wins over 80% of the time.

Saban, Mullen, Dabo, Shart and everyone else disagree with you. they spend the lion's share of their time on recruiting.

we agree that recruiting websites are trying to sell you a product.
