I will agree with this. An athletic director shouldn’t have to micromanage to the point of telling the head coach not to bring a failed coordinator. If the head coach can’t make that call on his own, then he’s the wrong head coach.
And yet....

It looks like he's got a young staff. Some young guys that you would think would wanna come in here and try to prove themselves as recruiters. We've had way too many "proven" older guys that were on cruise control the last decade. I don't have a problem with bringing in some younger and hungrier guys that still want it.

I’m sure there may be some exceptions. What did Meyer bring, like 3-4 assistants? And one of the guys that didn’t come was promoted to HC and is still there. In general, guys who gets it, get it. And they surround themselves with those that do as well. Sadly, as we’ve seen first hand recently, the opposite is also true.

I’d rather more passing as well. But if we’re first in rushing and mid SEC in passing, while winning, playing great defense and recruiting well, I’ll be ok with that.
Itraz made a good point when it came to their passing game. He has a qb that's not that great but efficient. Gets em in and out of the right protections and what not. Maybe theyve just rode with that style of play to cater to his abilities. I'm just looking for positives here.

Maclewain threw it all over the yard at csu then came here and did the opposite. I never thought our single season passing leader and single game passing leader would be coached by Dan Mullen. Spurrier did not run the fun and gun at south Carolina. I thought Mike Norvell was gonna have a really good offense at FSU. Not every stop is the same if you think about. I'm gonna try not to be the over critical a-hole that I know I can be.

He hasn't won anything at UL

The game got canceled last year(rematch of a 3 point loss), he lost in the championship game in his second season ever coaching in 2019, and he’s on track to win it this season.

So tell me, what IS the Athletic Director responsible for? Is he required to be able to spell football? The f'n AD apparently knew so little that he paid TG 5x what he was worth. You think the AD doesn't have a say in whether or not you bring your staff with you?

Won the Sun Belt last year and will again this year. Try posting sober.

Same with the two idiots that liked your post.
He lost at home to undefeated Coastal Carolina last year. Conf Title game was cancelled because of Covid, so they gifted him co-champ status. Not sure how finishing the season with a worse record than a team that beat you at home qualifies as winning a title. And more importantly, I just opened a nice bottle 30 minutes ago. Give me an hour or so for the sober cracks.

You wanted Kiffy, right? Should we go through all his titles? He can’t even win with hot chicks anymore and has had to turn to fatties.

As others have pointed out, he was award a split conference title when the conferenc championship game was canceled and he did not have to play in the championship game a team he had lost to at home that year.

He isn’t a football coach. He’s an AD. Bad move by letting him bring him in, fine. Totally agree. But SS also eventually made him keep him post-2020 so he’d go down with the ship, then forced him to fire his friend with two games left, then pulled the plug on the whole thing.

Again, no, an AD isn’t going to know all the details. He’s paid 1/5 of what Mullen was. So he’s going to let him make those calls. The issue again is the Mullen hire in itself.

Actually he was awarded half a championship bc their championship game was cancelled. The other team given half a championship beat UL in the regular season, Coastal Carolina.

A guy with a 20-2 record over the last two years has done a lot of winning the past two years. UL has supplanted every other team in the Sunbelt as the premier team in the Sunbelt. This year UL blew out App State, the team that usually wins the conference. Yes UL has played other close games this year, but blowouts of App State and Liberty are quality wins for a team like UL. Kiffin played Liberty the week prior, and the score was a lot closer than the game with UL. Wins like that show what Napier's program is capable of in year 4 of a total rebuild.

A 3 point loss to an undefeated Top-15 team, with a chance to avenge it canceled.

Forget an upgrade. How was he not fired on the spot?
