It’s going to take me awhile to get used to this team.
A Florida basketball team doesn’t fold down the stretch and instead closes strong?
A Florida basketball team doesn’t have it’s A game all night and doesn’t go into a selfish funk and instead plays lockdown defense to increase possessions?

I really like what I see but still not believing what I see.

But jokes on them in FB as well. I read on here we're hiring the second coming of Nick Saban so we should be stacking up chips in no time:rolleyes:.

Uh oh, soooooomebody's about to get sent to Ox's Reeducation Camp for Wrongthink. GGG said it doesn't hurt too bad, liberating even.

Offense is skill based. Defense is grit, commitment and hard work. It keeps you in games when that shot just won’t drop. That constant non-stop pressure also wears out the opponent not just physically…..but also mentally. As a coach I’m so excited about this total commitment to stay up in their grill. It’s a thing of beauty to watch.

Having said that….. I can see us having more games like this. Lack of size, some ballhandling issues and shooting consistency could keep things interesting. But our defense can overcome a lot.

BTW Fleming and Felder have been great coming off the bench.

McKissic might be our most important player. He’s a junkyard dog and brought that mentality with him to Gainesville. Can tell the other players feed off of it. Flemings as well.

I absolutely love this squad.

I agree. You can see why both of them were DPOY last year in their conferences. They bring so much energy.

I love this group as well. Just fun to watch.

8-37 starters. Many right at the rim. 2-10 3’s.

I wasn't paying enough attention to understand why we were trailing but staying close. This says a lot. Partly due to strong defense by tOSU, mostly I think due to several starters just not being on the mark this game. Thanks for the stat and insight.

Thank You Gator Basketball for that thrilling finish. What a great way to begin Thanksgiving!!

Ohio State must hate us with a passion that is unfathomable to me. The way we have beat them in FB and BB is absolutely amazing. When they see a Gator their heads must explode! LOLOLOLOLOL!

Beating tOSU at anything is always one of the best early xmas presents one could hope for. Warms my heart with every tear.

Coming back from 10 down is something Mike White teams don't do. The experience of the transfer guys is paying off. Now, keep this going! What a finish and F the bucknuts.

Aye, I said in the thread about the Cal game how MW seems to ruin the good we see in a team early on. The other references to mis-identifying HS talent and expecting them to grow under his coaching has been failure to date. A good coach knows what he's good at and what he isn't. As much as I don't like the change to transfer-U, if it works for him and he has recognized and adapted....then I'll stop btching so much about it. Like many seasons we have seen hope in the beginning come crashing down as the season progresses. I think these transfers are mature and experienced enough they know what they are doing and are bought into the defense first mindset - all of them, doesn't matter if you start or are on the bench, they look like a team, a team of hungry and dedicated players. I like it.

Y’all have said that every year under White.

Yeah, until the annual loss to f$u… The win vs the nulls and this gritty comeback win that should’ve been another classic Meltdown Mike Special provides new optimism, however temporary it may be.

Edit: I still think cmw needs to be escorted to the state line with a restraining order, but I can’t control that. If we have a great year with this overhauled roster that seems to fit what cmw is trying to do, then I’ll enjoy the winning as long as it lasts.

Damn it NV go eat some Turkey.

It's way way too early to tell where this team might end up in the pecking order, sure. But if they play like this, no mater where they end up they'll be fun to watch. When was the last time that happened?

And yeah there's a possibility that they'll revert to what we are all too familiar with. But I don't think so. It's a scrappy never give up bunch.

Happy Turkey day.

That was the most fun I’ve had watching a Gator game in awhile, any sport. When was the last time Numbnuts gave us a thrilling come from behind victory, Samford?

:woohoo:

We’ve never had defensive play like this. If You you like defense you like this team.

If it was an alternate universe and I was football coach I would be asking White if I could borrow his guards to put in the secondary. One day of practice and they would be an improvement over the current crop. I know, I know, but it soundsfun.

I coached middle school basketball for a while. Yeah i know kinda silly to even mention such a low level. But i told my kids "at any level if you get in their face on defense they will make mistakes."

This year is the firsf year ive seen a White team get in someones face

tOSU might just be a very good team - at least winners who got beat by us even in one of our flukey badly played games.?
Troy next will be a good relaxation break - (don't relax, just flow easily.)
Work on FG accuracy and FT accuracy and congratulate each other on team growth. Did OSU give us an SEC-type game.? I'd like o see a few more "fool'em" alley-oop slams. Just to generate in-game camaraderie. These guys ought to be able to think & execute = "give & go" with Castleton et al ... mix it up. Draw some fouls ... give them worries. See what you can do. We want to see what you can do.
