Here is some video for those wanting to watch a little and see what we are buying:
2020 Coastal

2020 Appy State

2021 Appy State

We've agreed that the offense isn’t perfect. I do think it will look much better with UF level talent, but again, maybe not my ideal choice. I also don’t subsribe to the “hopefully he does___”. I think we get what we see. The problem is neither is LK. Aranda is a DC who’s had 1 good season. Cristobal is a good recruiter but is questionable as an actual coach. Riley isn’t coming here. I know we’ve talked about guys like Johnson, but would you truly take that risk over someone who’s actually doing the job as HC currently? Maybe, but I see it as a bigger risk. Not to mention he still comes from the DM tree and was a part of the offense you hated before Trask.

I think the point guys like Ox and myself have made is that we either had to stick it out another year with Mullen or take what’s out there. Of the real options that could be considered, I don’t know how Napier doesn’t fit. He’s much closer to Meyer than Muschamp, imo. If he fails, so be it. We move on again. But I doubt we’d be in terrible shape. If he succeeds, we’re solid for a while.

To coaches in demand, UF is no longer considered a premier job. It is a second-choice job because of their lack of commitment to football. The LSU job is far, far more attractive to a coach. The dedication to lowering seating capacity at the Swamp has also been a turn-off.
Talent goes to where the resources are available to turn talent into production.

Strick’s dumb @ss put a choke hold on football’s resources: thus no talent either between the lines or coaching them up.

We hope, maybe, unless he signs with LSU.

Im guessing the odds are pretty bad about him being Meyer.

Did Meyer punch his old bosse at ND? I dont recall that

Meyer covered up murder for a Freshman TE who’d never even taken a snap yet, all because he knew he might need that shovel pass in the ‘08 SECCG and wasn’t sure anyone else was up to the task. I assure you if it meant something to him he’d punch his boss in the face.

Your not suggesting Im on Team Syphilis, are you?
Amazing. I was sitting here almost in a tryptophan-induced coma thinking “If Team Syphilis had a Head Coach or Athletic Director, who would it be?” And then it came to me, like a bolt from the blue!

We'll see. Dude sounds a little too good for me. And too much of a goodie two shoes for me. And we've heard great things about previous hires. But at least we had heard of them and had some read. We know little about Napier because he hasn't been on anybodies radar.
Even the good things about him are red flags:

"Fiercely loyal to assistants and players": We know what that means.
Listen to the pod casters that have covered him for 4 years.
When asked if he'd play talent over seniority they said TBD.
He's a family man that studies football day and night. I want a coach who can't remember the last time he saw his family and recruits day and night. Also they described him as a "comfortable" recruiter. Honestly that sounds like he's recruiting family members.

Napier is MulLLLLLLLLenzzez 2.0. Fool me once....

I'd rather get a Zook 2.0 that can fix the talent level for the next HC, because none of the candidates we are hearing about and likely getting will ever win a championship in the SEC

Why do people post who know absolutely nothing about the person? You heard a name, you reacted. Napier can recruit.

I’m fine with the variance in opinions. But yes, the comparisons are just random nonsense. He’s been called Mullen 2.0, Muschamp 2.0 and McElwain 2.0, three completely different knuckleheads, all at the same time. When in reality, like him or not, he resembles none of those coaches,
But certainly couldn’t be all of them. I think that says it all. He may or may not be the guy, but some of these posts are embarrassing, especially considering the last I checked we do need to have someone coaching us next year. Do some actual research. Or just read the dozens of articles that have named him one of the great up and comers over the last few years. I posted three.

Give me someone who is ready to work 80 hours a week, is and has been a great recruiter, and is presently winning over some random idiot who’s doing none of those things or someone that’s a total unknown. If no one else fits that description, I’ll be fine with trying Napier.
