Swamp gas is terrible all around. Got banned years ago for speaking the truth but it was considered bad mouth the coaches and players. It might as well be ran by the Biden administration itself cause they censor everything over there that ain't unicorns and rainbows.

Glad we can at least speak the truth over here cause they suck over there

That site is more of an incestpool. If you don't get off to banging your dad, brother and uncle then they don't think very highly of you over there. Mental illness indeed.

I have come to learn over time that outside of the Tweeter Machine, anything that is referred to as a "cesspool" has a lot of truthful information within!

Slev was an angry pump. Don't you dare criticize mullens crootin chops or offensive genius, hell knife you in your sleep and fck your mother... until he says mullens crootin sucks and offense is stupid, then it's cool. But still f your mother bc trump, or 2A, or non vaxxed, or something.

Slevin was a candyassed vagina-hat-wearing triggered soy boy who would gladly EABO(black)D just to virtue signal to the black gays. He's a retard. F him.

Interesting stuff here.

This was never meant to be a "right vs left" thread, so let's stop with the political digs.

Slevin was around for years on the GSMB and many years here. Over all those years, I NEVER heard him melt down and freak out or threaten anyone. Honestly, I had no idea what his politics were and frankly didn't care. However, 2020 broke a lot of people. The last thing I ever wanted to do was to drag politics into the sports forum, but that's what happened: social justice issues and COVID politized sports, and we had no choice to but discuss them.

Sports should be here so we can GET AWAY from things like politics. A conservative and liberal can sit next to each other at the Swamp and just both be Gators - screaming and slapping high-fives after touchdowns.

2020 forced us to mix politics and sports, and views were shared that exposed the political views of individuals. This started to cause problems, because both sides see the other as destroying the country they love. Slevin isn't the only one who left this board for political reasons.

So families were torn apart, and message boards were torn apart. That's just the way it is these days. It's so bad I felt that the political forum had to be moved to pay-only.

Yeah we lost a really small message board with a group of maybe ten. All Gators. Actually that's not true. We had one who is on this board (I'm looking and you ...) and another Corndog fan. But we all got along. We supported each other, met, laughed, joked, even politely argued politics, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Then real politics hit. Poof, mass exodus. Politics suck.

Slevin? Haven’t thought about him in a while. Sounds like somebody made a visit to Sylvester McMonkey McBean and had his star removed.

F’n Sneetch…

It does seem like the exposure of people's different political beliefs or ideologies has caused a lot of friction within groups, but I have a slightly different take on it.

Our views on politics and current events are shaped by underlying personality traits that otherwise are not always so apparent. Nowadays, because we talk openly about those topics more than we used to do, people find out more about each other than they knew in the past. Sometimes they don't like what they discover.

In other words, if I have a falling out with someone over their political beliefs, it's not about the beliefs they express, per se. It's more about realizing that they are the type of person who is naturally inclined to believe such things.

This is a really good post.

As many here know, I grew up in DC; the epitome of a politically divided place and for a long time. It used to be that Redskins were wildly popular across all lines. Partially it was because they had some good/great teams, but mostly it was because D’s & R’s could put aside differences and root for the home town team. It was pretty much the one thing and politics had no place in discussion. This is, of course, no longer true. And no longer true across the sports spectrum whether it be in the sport, in the sports pages, or in sports chat rooms.

I don’t really know how, or why, we did this to ourselves, but we did and I doubt there is ever any going back. At a place like this, Ox and the mods have two choices as I see it: Either block any posts outside the political forum that touch on politics or give them a warning label and if appropriate, guide them to that forum. They made the right choice, no doubt well aware a few folks along the way would get their feelings hurt and leave.

I’ve mentioned this before but it was ridiculous that the political forum became for paid members only; not ridiculous because it was done, but because it became necessary to do it. In retrospect, it probably should have been done sooner.

Brad mentioned earlier that Slevin threatened to literally share his personal views with the HR department of the company he works for. This wasn't hyperbole, some people are dead serious about doing this and have done it. The PF had to be hidden for reasons such as this. Right now, speech isn't nearly as free as it's supposed to be.

At the end of the day, this isn't a political site, it's a sports site. I detest having to discuss political issues on the Main Sports Forum, but I'm left with no choice. They are now intertwined.

I would have had a difficult time not escalating the situation had someone followed through on a threat like that back when I actually worked somewhere that had a HR department. On the other hand, that was when I worked for a fed agency whose HR department was such a mess that it would have taken them a decade to try and decide what action to take before they discovered the file and original documents had been shredded.

Only Slev knows if his post was an idle threat or not, but it’s crazy that anyone could be driven to thinking up something like that because of something you read on an Internet forum! To paraphrase you back to you, if your mind works this way, maybe message boards are not for you.

Edit: or to be more precise, maybe message boards aren’t for him.
