I was talking with a co-worker about gas prices/supplies and he mentioned that fuel companies might increase the amount of ethanol in fuel as a result of these present conditions.

That got me to thinking about fuel stabilizers.

Anyone got any recommendations for fuel stabilizers for both combating ethanol AND storing fuel?

Thanks in advance!

Sta-Bil is what I use, have used.

Or find a WaWa or other station that sells non-ethanol gasoline. I use no-ethanaol gas in my mower, saw, weed whacker and my boat, too.

Definitely add something to the corn likker gas if it is going to sit a while.

Why increase the amount of ethanol? Last I knew, it did nothing to improve the cost of gasoline production, raised the price of corn and only made us FEEL like we were doing something "green."

Startron for the win....

Never heard of it but a quick search shows:
This from StaBil's site:
Q: How much STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer should I add to fuel?
A: One ounce (30mL) of STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer for every 2 ? gallons (9.5 L) of gasoline, gasoline/oil mixtures, or ethanol blends is the recommended dosage level.
Q: How long will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer keep fuel fresh?
A: For 12 months when mixed into fresh gasoline. Doubling the dosage will keep fuel fresh for up to 2 years.*

From StarTron's site:
Q: How much Star tron should I use in gasoline or diesel fuel?
A: With the Star tron Gasoline formula, add 1 fl. oz. for every 16 gallons of gas. In diesel application, add 1 fl. oz. of Star tron Diesel Additive for every 32 gallons of diesel fuel.

Star Tron? breaks down and safely disperses gum, sludge and varnish, and it outperforms conventional chemical-based gas stabilizers because in addition to slowing the aging of fuel (gasoline and diesel fuel can be stabilized for up to two years)

Gasoline blends change seasonally, and in some locales there's many different blends, all depends upon local emission standards.

That said sta bil and startron will help extend the life of gas, but I wouldn't trust it for 2 years. Some of the components in gas flash off way too quick, just look at the gas filler door, the black crap that builds up around it if you don't wash your vehicle every week.

^ This. In general, if you are buying fuel that you'll have for a long time, it's better to buy it in the winter than the summer because of blends as well.

Are sure of that?

Additionally, this is important to know if you’re considering storing gas for months at a time. You need to keep in mind that winter gas is not good for your car or the environment during the summer, so avoid using gas from last season in your car now.
