Let's be honest, AR is so talented other QB's look downright mediocre throwing next to him.
And seasoning will make him even better ... along with his receiving crew.
Watch AR jazz up every offensive player's performances as they see concrete results for their efforts ... for that block, for that sharp cut, high jump, etc.

This is a pleasant surprise. I didn't know we had any outside linebackers.
The preseason chatter has implied that we’ve got Dexter & Watson at DT and no one else. “Dangerously thin” is the worry, one injury away from disaster, as though we haven’t recruited there.

However, we have 7 scholarship DTs whose recruiting ratings average .9167 per 247. That is skewed by Dexter’s .9946 rating, but we also have Chris McClelland (.9536) plus 3 other 4* guys. Watson was rated a 3* at .8891, but as long as he can stay on the field he’s a wrecking ball.

My point/question is: Can we find 3-4 guys out of that 7 to be a solid rotation for the 1-2 DT spots depending on alignment? If they are sliding Dexter to SDE (where I’ve wanted his all along) they must be developing some confidence in the other 6. Is this a weak position group or just young/unproven?

Thoughts?

That is interesting stuff.

I really did not realize that we have those guys at this point. Just looking at what we are recruiting. As many point to a .92 avg it would seem that those guys are realatively close and the staff may be happy with that. Who really knows when we're not on the inside. There should be no reason that we cannot get a rotation in there do exactly that. If Watson can stay out there, between him and Dex that should allow Miller and the LB's to be really successful. Teams are going to have to double team Watson, no way around that. We know Dexter will be a beast.

I think it is as you say and the staff thinks pretty positively of those that are there.

Kinda fall practice related but kinda not, figured I'd put it here instead of starting a new thread for it. Tony Livingston (OT/TE) 2022 signee has yet to enroll. Apparently, he is rehabbing a shoulder injury from offseason and not grades related. He will gray shirt and is expected to join the team next spring.

No way around Watson, literally. If he gets any bigger they’ll have to triple team him.

A schedule that includes KY, USF and UT?
Suck It Schitts Creek GIF by CBC

I guess September schedules aren't always that tough. If we're worse than 3-1, it's going to be a rough season.
Our October schedule is tougher, with EWU (no pushover) and Missouri (thorn in our sides since they joined the SEC), to go along with LSU & UGA.

Heard a stat on Gators Breakdown podcast after I wrote that. Aside from Dexter, there are a grand total of 42 tackles among the rest. Half of those are by Watson. So really it’s more about inexperience.

That’s the prior staff’s fault. Plugging in 3 DT transfers capped off reps for the young guys even in blowout wins because the transfers needed to settle in.

At least they’ve had S&C and practice. Toney’s system should make their reads simple. They have size and several can move.

They’ll need to get the most out of them. Lots of rotation and learn who you trust. They’re short 2-3 bodies counting both DT and DE.

Why not run a 3-3 -5...we have the DBs?
Do we have any tweener LB/DB types?
