How sad, I'll miss him in the interim, death comes for us all and when it comes for the rest of us we will sit with him and watch the Gators play. God bless.
You should know his last post was wishing you a happy birthday - in his own way, of course:

rogdochar: Celebrate. I’m busy.

Wow. This just brings things close to home. I am sorry for your loss. He was indeed a staple here at GC and we were lucky to have him. I pray for comfort for your family thru these times. RIP Rog. We will be thinking of you this season.

This is terrible news.
My goodness, You could always count on Rog to chime in, in a heated moment , with one of his patented one liners to lighten the mood.
Even the rare occasion where he decided to post a well thought out and lengthy opinion, his character always came through.

Heartbreaking, Bad news for our board community.
Our strange family we have never met or spoken to in person, yet feel the loss like a long time friend from High School.

RIP Rog, You will be missed.

I’m not a crier. And when I saw this at the top of the threads I thought for sure it was a joke from Rog himself. And 5 second into reading this this morning I found myself tearing up.

He was so damn smart. When he first began posting, I found his posts difficult to understand. And very strange in structure. I’d even say pentameter in form. But as he posted more and more I began to really see his brilliance. You couldn’t just quickly skim what he wrote. You actually had to READ what he wrote. Otherwise you would miss the point he was making.

I remember several years back he had some sort of operation. I think maybe a cardiac procedure? And he was gone from the board for a few weeks and we were all worried that he didn’t make it. There was a huge sense of relief when he began posting again. Although it wasn’t initially in his normal witty banter. It took him several months to get back up to full throttle witty posting again.

The thing that impacted me the most from your post was the love you have for him. I could feel it in every sentence. And although he may have struggled in the love department as you stated, he for sure did not lack in love from people like you around him.

To put his impact in perspective a bit:

My wife does not read this board. I share a post every now and then. And she is familiar with the writings of a few posters. (Cooter being one). She got her degree in Literature and when I relayed this to her this morning, She said “is that the guy whose posts read like poetry?”

Lee,

Thanks for sharing Rog's passing with us and thanks for sharing your love for Rog. As you can see here, Rog was family and was loved; is family, is loved. As Ox mentioned, I hope you'll share these posts with your family and Rog's friends.

Rest-in-peace Rog, and Go Gators!

Good point about whenever a pun is posted. I'll start viewing or referring to any pun someone posts....as a rog. I can't view it as a 'pun' anymore--it can only be viewed as a 'rog'.

Rog had the best one liners that left you laughing and scratching your head at the same time. At first I wondered if he was just funny, brilliant or troubled. He was just himself, rogdochar. We need a “best of” one-liner compilation thread. Rog was a master paronomasian that left me feeling like a kindergartener trying to make a silly joke. He was definitely like no other that I’ve ever met online. I’d heard about his humor before I ever came to this board and he did not disappoint. I’m still in disbelief this morning by OUR loss. Wish I’d “met” him sooner. The world could use more people like him.

Lee, please let your family know the tremendous impact he made on all of us.

Age 5, I had a Heinz 57 wire-haired terrier. United forces couldn't keep him away from me.
His "at-my-sideness" caused me much embarrassment. Sunday, church deacons volunteered to
stay outside to reject "Teddy". So our pastor is speeching the dedication of our new baptysmal
(just there, behind those long wine-colored drapes). He turns arm-sweep gesturing, the curtains
open displaying a glass-front pool, ice-blue water and Teddy's face turned to the congregation.
I'm sure he was staring at that water figuring how he could get a drink, when the magic of the
curtains opening caused him to turn to the crowd. Everybody knew Teddy. Everybody gave a
good ole Christian fellowship laugh. It seems with deacon-guarded front doors, Teddy found a
long board some carpenter left slanting into an open window at the backof the church. Teddy just
waltzed up. The church body finally gave up hampering Teddy's church access; it must've been
the will of God.

So, sitting in my pew waiting for my name to be called to get my "perfect attendance" Vacation Bible School diploma, my pastor called out "Teddy Harrison" and I had to march up to get Teddy's perfect attendance diploma; of course Teddy marched right by me.

That small community was called Cantonment, (Pensacola outpost). For Homecoming (I'm still 5),
the Moms of us 5 y.o.s sewed animal costumes, Dads built wood-slat cages atop red wagons. They were all strung together and pulled by tractor across the FB field like some circus parade. In front of
all those people shy me was fine. I was in disguise, no one knew who was who. Then, I heard a
wave of laughter wafting along the stands. I saw people pointing. I looked down the line and there, sniffing every cage, came Teddy. When he got to my cage he popped loose 2 slats and crowded in with me. I was the only creature everybody identified.

Rarely does one think of coming to one's favorite board to hang out, and it immediately hurts when you log on. Today is one of those days. This stings.

RIP Rog.

I thought this was another one of his postings when I opened the thread. I will never be known for my literary prowess as my background is more 5 cent words. This sucks. Bad. I am a little nauseas right now and I don't like it.

I found him extremely difficult to read, but you hit this on the head. You had to READ his posts. I had to read them 3-4 times before I caught the jist of his musings. It was part of his charm. I would often just shake my head and laugh after reading his posts, partly at his brilliance and partly at my inability to understand it the first time.

RIP Rogdochar.

I am literally shaken. I froze and just sat staring at my screen. Rog was a national treasure. His one liners reminded me of Groucho Marx and Steven Wright. His wit was unmatched and he always made us smile. I'm going to miss Rog dearly. This place will never be the same.
