Oh, and I proceeded to NOT get carded by the bouncer manning the door at whatever the Porpoise had become. Talk about adding insult to injury at that time. I was only 28.
Since it was a new place, and replacing a legendary one, the manager probably told the door guys to let in every hot chick who showed up no matter how obviously under age they were. Hence, you weren't carded.

:exactly:

The list is long but one that I have always found tough to swallow was the Notre Dame Sugar Bowl. Dan Dierdorf Dufus kept calling us Florida State ~ on purpose I am sure just to annoy me.

I was at that game and it was the worst drive home ever back to Tally. Hungover and then I got the flu on top of it. What a miserable week after before going back to Gainesville.

The Swindle in the Swamp. It was on my birthday no less, and I treated myself to tickets to that madness. It was later that evening when I discovered the Porpoise was gone. Fuchs that day.
The day the Porpoise died should be declard a national day of mourning.

I was 11 when that game happened, and was so irate, I took everything UF I had in my room and put it in my (also UF) trash can, and put it outside my room.

I tended to take these losses hard.

‘94 Auburn. Started the day by overthrowing a football at our tailgate and hitting a girl right in the face, who was a friend of the family and getting married in like a month. Heard about that the whole way in to BHG. Then the loss, which was suffocating in a way I’d never experienced, because we were #1 and it meant so much more by then than it ever had before. To this day, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Swamp so quiet on the way out. Just nauseating, shocking pain. To top it all off, even knowing what I just went through, my first ever real girlfriend broke up with me on Sunday. Stayed in my room listening to Mazzy Star and Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream for like a week.
Three straight shots to your snapper... man, that HAD to hurt! Good music though... Siamese Dream was my "go to sleep music" in Korea that year.

Same, except the Korea part. Would listen to Mayonnaise specifically on loop. Throw in some Hope and that was 1994 for me. Both, mostly MS are still staples of my relax Sunday playlists, especially after Saturdays like this weekend. I didn’t take anything UF related and put it by the road though, so baby steps.

I had a six CD changer on my little stereo in my room... Sep 93-Sep94 was the year of Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, Porno for Pyros and some other stuff I'd program and hit play when I went to sleep.

Sadly, when going to clubs in Korea, it was the year that Ace of Base was MASSIVE everywhere in the world EXCEPT the US... so I heard it that whole year in Korea, then, when I thought I had "escaped" Ace of Base when I got back to the US, we "discovered" Ace of Base and I got year 2 of them

In full "yeah, I just admitted to that" disclosure, I still love "Voules-Vous Danser"

I dated a girl with a Korean mother who had the most annoying voice and never shut up. Trust me, if all you heard for a year was Ace of Base, you take that as a win.

I always thought Jenny Breggren from that group was hot. Then I saw some pictures where I thought not so much. She definitely could have been the gal in the Seinfeld "Two face" episode. Here's one of the good shots - can't bring myself to post one of the not so good ones:

Pretty sure it was Gator City in that era; and pretty sure I was there after the Swindle as well.

I was underage at the time, but knew the bouncer and was able to get in to drink my sorrows away.

After a bitter loss to Mississippi State in the early 80's, all but ending the quest for our first SEC title, Larry Guest (Orlando Sentinel) wrote a column saying that after the loss his neighbor Wolfgang gathered all of his Gator hats, shirts, jersies, signs, posters, memorabilia, car tags, bumper stickers, drink coasters, etc, etc, etc, burned them in a backyard bonfire and swore to never attend, watch on tv, listen to a game on the radio, read an article about or even acknowledge the Gator's existence ever again. I would be lying if I said I had not considered doing the same thing on more than one occasion after a tough loss.

I have often said to those who ask me for a pre-game prediction or a post-game reaction after a loss ~ 'I am a Gator fan and I am used to living with disappointment'. How pathetic is that?

My grandfather was one of the meekest human beings ever, but was also big and very strong, and one of the biggest Gators on the planet. So because of that people used to rib him during games for whatever reason. I’ll never forget during the Nebraska game, some idiots he knew kept calling him to give him a hard time. He finally calmly stood up and ripped the home phone off the wall. Everyone just stood in shock. Was awesome. But pretty much painted a picture of me in 10-20 years.
