BYU dropped 28 quick points on USF in the 1st quarter. My guess is that took them completely out of what they wanted to do offensively. Bohannon had only 4 carries the entire game I believe and threw it a ton. Of course the BYU QB was something like 24-32 for 300 hundred or so. We needed to drive the ball down first series and punch it in. But instead we got inside the 30 running it down their throat and then went with the jet sweep/WR screen BS and killed the mo. No idea why OC's cannot stick with what is working until it's not. We clearly we capable of running the ball all over their D but choose to not be patient.

This is my issue with always starting Wright... there is nothing "wrong" with Wright, he almost always gets a couple of yards, but he never makes anyone miss. Both Williams and Etienne seem to turn a "Wright 2-3 yard gain" into a 6+ yard gain. We squander our initial drives in both halves like this with Wright starting.

Notable is the evaporating leads part. We have done this in every game. Saw a 9 point lead turn into a 10 point deficit last week, and a 14 point lead turn into a temporary 4 point deficit last night. Hard to say anything positive about “adjustments” when our Q3’s have looked like this.

Then we all sing about not backing down, led by a guy who OD’d on heroin. Think we’ve lost 9 home games since we started that cool new tradition. But hey, let’s keep it going. I’m psyched.
The whole won't back down shcit is gay and very awkward. Definitely needs to be scrapped

It’s always the smart move to jump on an opponent. It’s why guys like spurrier had so much success, especially in games the vols and uga. Game plans and balance go out the windows when you’re down 20+ by Q2. By contrast, every team we’ve faced has been able to stay on their schedule the whole 60. That’s what I mentioned as unsustainable. It won’t be any more successful than when WM tried it.

There’s also not enough time for it, which is also never discussed. The TV TO is over and they’re trying to squeeze in one more “hey baby”. Meanwhile, the opponents have run a successful play on each 1st play of the 4th because the boomers are too busy dancing and trying to turn off the flashlight on their phones instead of making noise. We are the Boys is a tradition. The Petty thing is feel good garbage to accommodate the Gville hippie crowd. Kill it.

You know, the return where they said personal foul on #15 on the receiving team. Then correction, #15 on the kicking team. Then, no just kidding, #15 on the receiving team.

That was on Wingo.
But... was it? Clearly the refs couldn't tell you.

The PI call(on them) was actually worse. It wasn’t PI on either player, but definitely didn’t look like offensive. Awful night for the refs.

Yeah, a new fan tradition is what needs to be fixed.

I’m just saying, it’s very contrived and is simply not necessary. It had its place when he initially died. Now, I find it embarrassing, especially when we’re losing as many games as we’re winning while playing it. So while I’m not blaming it for the losses, I do think it’s become indicative of where we’re at as a program.

Cover 2 it took a little while to read "breakfast with the gators" since today is our anniversary and we went to breakfast. Yes, Ox we had breakfast overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Cover your insight is appreciated and I look forward to it every Sunday. All I see after each game is a work in progress. This is not a dominating team, but has a heart and will not give up. You do not dare leave any game early because if the game is close it will be decided in the last 20 seconds. View attachment 48916
I appreciate it, Coz. However, I have to say it was pretty cold throwing your Caribbean breakfast on Ox, knowing he was likely dining on a stale bagel with one of those individual plastics of cream cheese that he pilfered from the continental dining at Holiday Inn Express, washing it down with one of the half-finished Zimas left on the coffee table from last night (preferably one that didn’t have a cigarette butt floating in it)!

Not a fan of head caches calling plays unless the head coach is named Steven Orr Spurrier.
Saban, Smart and Dabo aren't calling their own plays and they have championships.

Two heads are better than one. You need that second opinion. I really think few can do both. Plus somebody needs to be coaching the QB (especially AR) while the defense is on the field.

There are two types of coaches:
Those who hate to lose and would clean toilets if that's what it takes.
And then there are those who like calling plays.
The last two liked calling plays.

I find it disappointingly ironic that the one position we had little concern about coming into the season is the one we now have the most concern about.

I don’t know how much faith I have in Billy to pull AR in favor of Miller once he’s healthy.

He spent all offseason and fall camp singing Richardson’s praises.

This feels dirty to think, much less type, but maybe Dancing Dan was right about AR.

I sure hope he wasn’t.

I have to admit thinking the same thing.

My question is, did AR win the job because he's the best QB we have or did he win it due to being the best athlete we have?

We worry about AR being a head case now but what happens when he actually has someone looking over his shoulder? ... I'm worried about how he handles the pressure once Miller is healthy along with whatever the hell is wrong with him now.
At this point, if AR can't handle the pressure of competing for the starting job he'll never be able to handle game pressure. If a QB's ego is that fragile I think he should be benched.

Good question. I’d say the latter is correct for sure. The allure de jure is to have that perfect dual threat. Conventional thinking was probably that he was already a great runner and all it would take is honing the facets of his throw game. Looking to be a pretty tall task at the moment.
