Smoked some ribs Saturday for the Gator game. Great taste but it got extremely difficult when wicked thunderstorms rolled through and knocked power out and the heavy rain really knocked the temp down on the egg. Pretty good considering….definitely better outcome than the game

A good friend of mine unexpectedly lost his wife. A couple months later we were golfing together, chatting about nothing. He asked what my dinner plans were and I told him wifey wanted my homemade chili and cornbread, but I didn't feel like stopping at the store.
We golfed a few more minutes when he quietly said, “Make the chili."
It took me a few minutes to realize we were no longer talking about dinner. It was about going out of your way to do something for someone you love because at any moment, they could unexpectedly be taken from you. So today I'm sharing with you that wisdom handed to me by my dear friend, that I've thought of many times since that day.
Next time someone you love wants you to go for a walk or watch a football game or play a board game or just put your phone down and give them your undivided attention, just do it.
“Make the chili.”

The wife and I did spaghetti the other evening. Even though the “gravy,” as my Italian friends would call it, wasn’t as thick as you’d get in the restaurant, it was made with tomatoes we put up and beef from the farm…

We also used some preserved tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers along with some fried onions and garlic. Seasoned with S&P, oregano, and bay leaves with some grated parmesan, it turned out like it always did when my grandmother would make it. If the liquid is off-putting, it is good to sop the garlic bread towards the end. A southern twist, I guess. The tomatoes in the salad were the last of what was grown in this year’s garden.

Beautiful thought. Someone is cutting onions!

Making chicken wings tonight and I can’t believe that I just paid the same price for them as I paid for skinless, boneless chicken breast. :headslap:

There may or may not be photos. Just so you are prepared to be disappointed either way.

The price of chicken wings has gotten absurd. I love them, especially from the egg, but only buy them if they are on sale.

This is definately not on the Atkins diet. I need some comfort food after last night's football game.

Homemade buttermilk biscuits and hot sausage (Purnells Old Folks country sausage).
