Seedy didn’t have much downtime or even an ice cream party before the next project. We used the closet off the bathroom to store everything and work in. Cleaned it out and seedy turned it into the closet I’ve always wanted. Eventually we will move upstairs.

Seedy added over 23 rolls of insulation in the attic on Saturday. It had settled over 17 years and was probably under-insulated to begin with.

Is this your way of saying he's getting fat?

@Seedy you going to put up with this kind of blatant disrespect? :shakehead:

Umm, he still wears the same size pants and shirts since I met him 25 years ago. I'm the one that gained 10 pounds and a shoe size since we've been married.

Final home improvement project EVER for Seedy. We are moving to an upstairs suite with his office. (I’ll give him until the end of the year before I mention remodeling the downstairs bath so we can move back down again. ) I wonder why he gets so mad when I make fantastic suggestions?

This was a guest bedroom only used a few times a year but was the largest bedroom in the house. Fantastic view over the neighbor’s horse farm. Seedy did a bunch of drywall work from where the framer screwed up one section. He had to raise a ceiling joist so the drywall wouldn’t bow out. He patched a ton of nail pops too. Then painted.

Yes, that is a car jack with a post pushing up the joist.

Several weeks ago I finally got off my ass and started working on Betty again.

Almost all of this is cosmetic stuff, other than installing a few marker lights etc. Sanded down the roof, patched up all the cracks with fiberglass, and sanded it smooth. Pulled the front windshields and rear corner windows due to the gaskets being so old they were starting to disintegrate. Decided to paint it while the windows were out. Couple good coats of primer, 3 coats of white paint, and hand-painted the blue accents and stripes.

Then I had to install the aluminum trim strips that run along the gap between the roof and the sides, install the marker lights etc, and repainted the emblems and grab handles and a lot of those little things before re-installing them.

Re-installing the windshields was a massive task. It took hours to do each one. Manufacturing specs back in 1969 weren't exactly laser-accurate when it comes to making a curved windshield match a curved fiberglass opening perfectly. Massaging these irreplaceable windshields back into place took just about every ounce of my superpowers. Finally though everything was back in place.

The cushions in the back looked pretty good after we washed the covers, which caused them to shrink a bit and get rid of the loose fabric look. Still, we got some fitted covers for them that pop off easily and we can just throw them in the machine rather than having to take the stuffing out of the actual cushion.

Last night, after owning this thing for I don't even know how many years now, I spent my first night inside. It was raining and in the 40s out, but it was nice and toasty warm and dry inside. I slept like a baby and woke up to a great sunrise coming in the back window. She still needs a few things such as the headlights installed, fixing the wiring to one of the tail lights, etc but she'll be ready to actually take out on the road here shortly.

Nice work on the RV Zambo! That's amazing.
Was it the love of the vintage rv or restoration work that made you do it because it surely wasn't to save money on a camper?

 Well I bought this old thing because it looked cool and I figured it would only take a little TLC to spruce it up into something we could have some fun it. Then, after cleaning it out I found out the floors were soft and needed replacing. So I had to pull out the cabinets, then I found out the walls had some water damaged rotten studs so I pulled down the paneling. One thing led to another and I wound up doing a complete remodel.

Same thing for the mechanicals....the engine and trans worked, but the engine was old and running rough so I decided to rebuild it. Then when I had it out I figured I may as well get the trans done too. Then I realized that the wiring was a rat's nest I could never untangle so I rewired the whole thing. And after finding out the wheels were 2-piece 'widowmaker' wheels that nobody will even touch anymore, I wanted new modern one-piece wheels but no one makes them in this old crazy lug pattern, so I needed new hubs. And I figured if I'm doing new hubs I may as well get rid of the drums and put disc brakes on. And etc etc etc.

Phucking white whale...I shoulda named it Moby Dick instead of Betty.
