To be on par with most, if not every modern stadium the luxury boxes will have to be moved to the midpoint of the stadium instead of the clouds. I'm not sure 200 million would do it or if it can even be done. It would be #1 on the big donors have to list. As for me just give me a chair back and a little less standing and I'll be happy.

“We need, right now a lot of our Olympic sports are using the (weight room) in Ben Hill Griffin,” Stricklin said. “We would need an Olympic sport weight room. So there’s projects like that that are going to be tied in some way to what we do at the Swamp.”
I don't think Stricklin gives two $hits about football. He's a con man. It's all about stealing from the revenue sports.

I think he just views football as the biggest cog in the sports wheel, but doesn't care about the product, only the $$$ generated.

Glad to see this finally happening. I went to my first home game two years ago (Alabama game) in 13 years and it looked like the same old BHG. It's a great college football stadium - especially if you were ever a student (or regularly sat in the student section), chairback seats don't matter in the student section! lol

I'm curious how long this project takes. It mentions something about using some of the 180,000sf of office space for stadium use - so @Thick&ThinG8r might be right about them upgrading the skyboxes. If they add chairbacks they'll have to lose some of the overall capacity, but it may be a good thing at least between the 20 yard lines (like 'club seats' at NFL stadiums).

The sad thing is- if he did care, the university would make even more $$$.
Yep. He sees both Football and Basketball (mens) as cash cows.

He'll milk the football donors for the "stadium upgrade" for 10 years before anything actually gets done that helps the football team or football ticket holders.

Capacity being decreased is fine if it creates a more comfortable atmosphere like your own damned seat. Nobody gives a rats ass about the numbers of people attending anymore, that is so 1980's.

Really? Perhaps I’m out of touch here, but stadium improvements, while nice, are second to what the fans really want: dominant Gator football. Would anyone here really care about the state of BHG if we went undefeated and won a Natty?

I didn't mention that Strickland is way out of touch about the amount of money it will take to renovate something that large and that old. The A&M remodel was a big one and would cost more than double what Strickland thinks he is about to spend and that's not including his pet project of the weight room and thousands of ft. office space. We spent 55 million inside the odome and it's not much different from what we had.

Great. So the Swamp on opening day is gonna look like a short sale in 2008 with visqueen and saw horses in random areas because we overran our budget and couldn’t finish.

Maybe just me, but I see a potential segue from our having Viking appliances and granite in certain sections—while still not fixing the first stall door in the Sec 63 mens room—and the Housewives’ overspending/failed budgeting. Eerily similar, imo.

I'm not an engineer or an expert on the stadium. I only know what I know. What I think I know is many of the items slated for upgrade likely could have, should have been addressed some time ago, around the time of the second failed hire after Urban Meyer.

Here we go again, playing big money catch-up in the game's most competitive conference and sounding reactionary about what we plan to do. When will we learn?
